More gauges, where to put em?

Right now I have a dual A pillar mount and I want to add a pressure gauge for my EX brake a pressure gauge for my soon to be here water/meth injection and possibly a fuel pressure gauge. My POS up high drink spiller has been replaced with my CB and the little cubby hole beside that has four switches in it.



I can get a 3 gauge pillar mount, but what about the rest. Any ideas?

get a rods pod

i went the opposite route ... got a rods pod with the 4 usuall gauges and now need to add two more for transmission pressure ... i'll be putting a dual a pillar pod in ... can't have too many gauges @wildcatdiesel.com

I originally made this up as a chunk of humor, but I see that more than myself may actually end up needing one. My plans for gauges (when I can get them) is going to be a large custom dash mount that will follow the lines of the drivers dash, and be just as long x 2 1/2 or 3" tall.

Autometer also makes a three pod center dash mount. I've already filled both up, so I'm exploring additional locations as well.

I like my dash mount, 3 gauges, 7 pieces of info, boost / switchable EGT, fp pre / post, transmission hot / pan.



Been thinking of a A pillar, 3 gauges, oil psi / temp, water temp / diff temp, air psi for the ebrake.



In my other life I was a B-52 pilot, 8 engines 32 gauges, 10 hydraulic, 22 fuel tanks, 4 generators 8 gauges, plus flight instruments, plus navigation, plus weapon systems, plus life support systems, plus 5 different radios, and an ejection system, landing gear 6 of them, oh, and an autopilot that never did work.



Cockpit was a good bit more crowded than my 3500, but wouldn't that be fun to try?, would have to give directional control and braking over to the copilot, lol. No time to look outside to drive!

Dash Mount

Looks like the three gauge dash mount is the ticket for me. I can get all three new gauges in and only have to buy one mount. Anyone have a pilots view pic of the three gauge dash pod installed.

Here a couple of shots of the different dash pods for you. First is a double from the top of my dash on the left side. If this is a style you like let me know via a pm. I had purchased a new triple for the left side for my 98 only to have it be for the incorrect year(its for a 97 and back dash). I'd let it go for what I have in it which is not much... ... ... Also here is shot of the Autometer dash center triple. Keep in mind though this is not for a 97 and back truck as they never made them for those years and have let it be known they will not. To use this pod on the older second gen trucks you have to do a little modifying of the bottom to fit the contour of your dash. I still have not decided on what to fill it with,LOL... ... . Andy

I have made a mount somewhat like hammers only it is polished aluminum right now and sits directly above the speedo and tach on top of the dash, and fits the curve of the dash. that way when you are" given her the gunny ",all you have to do is move yer eyes directly down a little , still in line with the road, to make sure everything is in check.



I will be painting it to match the dash because the polished aluminum glares into the winshield too much



nothin sais "that aint stock" better than a big chrome gauge pod on the dash



I will have pictures tomoro, just took the film in today



basically its like sticks' only smaller and without the altimeter and horizon and such

Yeah, I' be fabin' mine up in a week or so. Setting it for three, but I will keep the template in case I need to expand to 5 or more, or find someone who does. I am looking forward to seeing your pics of your custom job Agades.

I did mine for three as well

but

it would be very easy to make it as big as needed for say maybe 6 gauges or whatever is needed once you get the curves figured out

the curves are a bit complex and I did screw around for quite a while making it fit



I would think someone who was good with plastics could take this thing and mold a bunch out



would be a lot more cost effective than metal

Anyone know if the Left side Triple Dash Pod (double shown by Hammer) will interfere with the double pillar mount?

Good question Mike, I know it will interfere with the triple guage pod, not sure on the double. Even with the triple though, it could be modified to fit. Keep in mind that the this type of pod will slightly impair your vision to the front right of the truck. Once you get used to it, it's not a problem.

I have a four gauge pod from TST in the center above the speedo and a three gauge "A" pillar pod. There is no interference with the forward view with this setup.

when I first made this thing I thought it looked completely stupid

but I velcro'd it to the dash with some gauges in it to just see if I liked it.

I dont like it polished (glares in windshield) so I have since painted it to match the dash. (no pics of that yet)



no these are not the gauges I am using (got new DiPs coming)



but it gives the idea anyway



I do however like having the gauges here

very handy

less eye strain than A-pillar

close to line of sight when looking at the road



now I am in love with having the gauges here, even if the pod looks kind of stupid
