Lawsuit filed against Ford and Navistar over diesel engine problems

Kelly Cauthorn posted on February 09, 2011 13:04

SPARTANBURG, S. C. -- After alleged problems with a 6. 0-liter diesel engine sold in Ford models from 2003 to 2006, a class-action lawsuit has been filed in the U. S. District Court in South Carolina against Ford Motor Co. and Navistar Inc. , reported the Herald-Journal.

Similar suits have been filed in North Carolina and Maine.
The suit alleges breach of expressed and implied warranty on Ford's behalf, along with negligence and negligent misrepresentation, and unjustly profiting from a malfunctioning product.

Ford and Navistar, the manufacturer of the engine, are in an ongoing battle over who is to blame.

The vehicles with questionable engines are used for business purposes, with regular repairs hurting bottom lines.

The suit seeks financial damages and attorneys' fees.

My Brother in Law's SICKX O put him down last fall. $2500 and a week later he had new injectors and his truck back. On the way from the dealership to home, his truck put him down again and this time, it was the fuel pump. It was probably the pump to begin with. I don't know how high the pressure is from a Ford pump. Aren't those the hydraulically activated injectors (HEUI or whatever)?

He can't get anything for it so he has to keep driving it. It has started using oil and he says he will drive it till it stops. Well that happened twice in a week and he still has it cause he can't get rid of it.

I hope the class action works. The 6. 0 gives diesels a bad name. Just like those early Chevy's that were nothing more than a non turbocharged gas engine conversion. That POS should have been a class action, too.

A friend of mine lost his ***** on 2 6. 0 Fords. I really wish that a class action suit would help him. The reality of it is that a room full of lawyers will make MILLIONS of dollars, the poor folks that lost thier shirts because of a poor design, poor manufacturing and poor service people will recieve nearly nothing for the losses.
