Heres my problem. I want alil more low end power/pull then what my truck has now (auto/3. 54s) but I also don't want to give up the better MPGs since I do alot of highway driving. It just would be nice to have the low end power pullin my stock trailer and farm equipment around.

Would it help going to 3. 73s or just bombin my truck to get the low end power I want? Maybe lockers? Some sort of split rear end maybe?

TIA

Nathan

After rereading your signature I see you have a 94 which the boxes do not work on.

You can crank up the star wheel on the injector pump to get more power, you have a manual control injector pump.

Sorry for the other post I will delete it if no one has writen in response by the time I get done with this post.

I think most people over look the importance of gearing. You see it on here all the time, someone is going to order a truck and they are torn between 3:73's and 4:10's. To me it is and was never a probalem, I always go with the largest rear gear available. It doesn't matter about fuel mileage, these trucks don't sip fuel anyway, and that isn't what they were desinged to do. What most people do expect from there trucks, is to be not only abile to pull a heavey load. But to be confident at pulling a load. The 3:54, or 3:72 gears should be for people that don't pull and never will, if you do pull, there should be no doubt about the gear selection. Trying to save nickel on fuel shouldn't enter into the equation.

Y-Knot,

You are so right!!!

Where were you when I ordered my truck, I do believe it would have solved all my low power problems had I ordered the 4:10 gears and I would not have had to spend another $5,000 getting to the power level I needed to tow what's in my signature, at best I probably would have only needed the 60 Hp injectors or a 60 Hp box and the transmission more than likely would have lasted a long time before it needed upgradeing like over 200,000 miles, which alot of people have done. I feel this way because I believe the 4:10's would be easier on the transmission than the 3:54's especially while towing but in general driveing also.

I could have taken the extra cash it cost to get to this level and done more exciteing things with it.
