My pedal slowly falls to the floor when I apply the brakes. New (rebulit) master cylinder..... new rotors... ... . good shoes in back. Going down the road at 30mph and stomping on the pedal I get a double skid line 6 feet long. Going 50mph and hitting brakes seems to activate ABS and no skidding.

I guess I am wondering if the Rear anti lock valve is bad however the mechanic says they RARELY go bad. Or is the master cylinder bad? I think not. Or is there air in the lines. Mechanic says he ran 2 qts of fluid through system and there should not be any air. I hate this spongey brake pedal..... baron

On my 73 D-150 I went through 3 rebuild master cylinders (all from NAPA) in 2 years. I finally got tired of that and put in a brand new Wagner, that was ten years ago and it still works better than any of the rebuilds. I'm not sure why, maybe poor quality of seals or a problem with the cylinder bore, but I was astonished at how firm the pedal was with the for real new one.

You might want to try a new Wagner or Raybestos or any of the big name Brake manufactures.

Well, I trading in my 93 a year and half ago because I could not find the cause of the same problem. New master cylinder, vacuum check valve. I figured it had to be the ASB valve on the frame near the rear axle, however wife let me get a 2001. 5 and I never looked back. EXCEPT the 93 was a CUTE truck with 12:50x33x16. 5 tires and mags, Warn front bumper etc etc. SNOKING

hydraulic valve

Well seems like some have checked into the abs hydraulic valve on frame rail, does anyone know how much a new one is from the dealer or is it a part that can be bought from a parts store, NAPA etc. . ? Or junk yard? I need one. Have replaced abs speed sensor, its harness and abs still doesnt work properly. Dealer says its the hydraulic valve and their price was $340.

Why don't you go to a good parts store that has a good selection of tuben fittings and just by pass that thing and see what happens,or are you just fond of the anti lock brakes??????

Went to my mechanic ( who replaced the MC a month ago) and showed him how I can stomp on the pedal with motor running and parked and watch it slowly go to the floor. He is gonna put in a new MC ... . I pay only the diff betw rebuilt and new one. Again he said the anti lock valve RARELY goes bad. baron
