I have 1500 on my 600... I LOVE this truck, however when it was right off the lot it felt like it had more power. It's certainly not gutless or anything... it still pulls hard, but I don't have that SOTP kick anymore. Is this just the engine breaking in? Am i getting used to the motor? Will i need to fuel the truck to make it feel snappy again?

I too have developed more valvetrain noise as I've put a few miles on it, but now that my MPG are over 16 and still climbing i doubt it's a problem.

SOTP is too subjective, I think. I'd be willing to bet your loss in performance is psychological. Problems like this can best be seen in the fuel mileage. Have you been calculating it and keeping a running average?

Give 'er some time before you take it back to a dealer and let them tinker with it. :)

I use to have customers tell me that there fuel mileage was WORSE at 10k then at 2k. At 2k or REALLY NEW they babied it and drove it like it had eggs in it. At 10k they would comment on this and leave our lot MASHED,turn the corner up the street and BE GONE and in O/D before they were out of site!

I have more valve noise also than when new and power may be down a little, not sure. Following other threads I have read where a few 3rd gen,s were found to have excessive rocker arm clearance and or loose injectors.

Power will be off a tad if the valves are not opening as far as they are intended to.

Mine goes in Thursday for a few flash TSB's and 2 recalls. I'm gonna ask to have the noise checked out but after that if nothing is done I will reset valve lash myself so I "know" they are right.

I can't coment on the 600's but my 04 got noisy at about 1500 miles and then quited back down again. I think what did it was either a long trailer pull / road trip, or a bottle of fuel additive / lube.

Mine is now quieter than ever with 8,000 on it. Gotta love being able to pull into a drive through and not have to shut off the engine. :D

Good luck,

Dave
