I have a '99 and want to boost my power for towing and hopefully better mileage. I'm looking for someting with adjustability and also engine/ trans monitoring like the Edge Juice w/Attitude. I've seen a lot of products out there, but next to nothing for a '99. I've already installed a BD Trans Valve Body and Pressure Lock, so I'm ready for some horsepower!!

Well I would have done more than thrown a VB and Pressure Lock at the transmission before wanting to add power. Put a set of 275RV injectors or other mild injectors and an Edge EZ or Comp without the pump wire. Makes a nice driving setup. However you still have to contend with a torque converter that was not designed for a diesel. SNOKING

I agree with SNOKING, the setup he recommended is what i run,and i does pretty well. I made 275 horse and 643 torque at the wheels and get better milage than when new. Randy

Isnt this the question we all started with before we fell down the slippery power addiction slope!! :-laf :D :-laf :D

If you want adjustability and monitoring ability, the Bluechip FMS is an option.

pyro, boost pressure, low fuel press warning, etc. . lots of adjustments and power levels.

(Mr. rbsullivant is also about to start sliding down the slope. :-laf )

That's the truth! I removed my Comp harness last week to test for a slight hesitation problem, that was occuring with the Comp on or off. The good news is, the hestitation is gone :p The bad news is, the Comp or its harness may be at fault :( The really bad news is that I'm suffering from diesel power withdrawal :{

Oh sure, I thought I could quit any time :-laf

Now I'm looking at dieselholics annonymous :cool:

the blue chip FMS is definitly the premium unit. it is pricey, but if you add the price of a pyro, boost and fuel presure gauge it is even dollars. one of the many nice features of the fms over just a fuel box is that is has built in egt defueling if you choose to use it.

good luck with your decision as there are many options on the market

any questions feel free to ask

Be sure and install gauges (if you haven't already). As mentioned the Blue Chip FMS incorporates both a box and gauges into a nice package. If a fueling box is not for you then you could add something along the lines of an Edge EZ. I would recommend Formula 1 Mach 1. 6 injectors to round out the package. These are an 85 RWHP injector that normally yeilds slightly improved mileage and lower egt's than stock.

I have the same truck at ,33k I installed a Edge EZ then at 36K installed a DTT valve body towed good but still not enough power to accelerate up hill.

At 65 k installed Mach 1. 5 injectors :cool: Very nice, but all is lost in the rubber band like TC until lockup.

Now at 70k my lockup clutch slips when I try to pass traffic with a 6k trailer and now am in the process of doing a Full DTT.

So any more than the EZ or other mild box expect to buy a TC/trans. soon only took 5k to finish off the stock TC.
