I would like to add a fueling box to my 03 with 48RE trans. I am interested in about 150-200 more foot pounds and little to no smoke. Switch on the fly inside the cab. Anyone using something like that on the new common rail trucks and have input?
ive got the bullydog adjustable box. awesome power and very little smoke
at the dyno a new stocker with 20 miles on it ran278/511 stock 372 /677 midle position and 405/795 on hi
they are making changes on box with the low position will be timing only instead of off as on the earlier boxes. mid pos is timing and some fuel pressure and hi adds more fp to that. i imagine with the new box w/ timing only on 1st position mpg should increase and egt decrease
im pretty impressed with the way my truck performs w/ the b-dog box on
I too have the Bullybox on my truck. As Muddy said, it makes lots of power and the ony smoke you get is at the initial hit of the throttle. After that a very slight haze is all you get. As far as I know it is the most powerful box for the trucks as of yet. Also, my truck has picked up a solid 2. 5 mpg w/the Bully box. If you can wait, TST & EDge should have something out in the near future. If you can't wait, get you a Bullybox.
The middle position on the Bullybox is plenty for me- the 3rd position I think could hurt the trans, I know that if 800lbs is put there I would hit the switch to check it out and once I did there would be no way of leaving it alone. My safety net is to buy one that won't wreck the trans so I will wait some more. I hear TST's unit is programmable to cut back when EGT's start to get out of hand. That sounds good, it would also be neat if they would have a 3 position that users could program different torque levels for each of the three.
