More Power...kinda?

Truck discription in sig. (2006)

I'm makeing a right turn into traffic and need to accelerate. Next thing I know I get to second gear and it's like I just installed a chip. There is excess black smoke and a lot more power. (Compareing to my old 2001 with an Edge, it felt like going from stock to level one. I think 40 hp) The smoke is above stock levels though. I tried accelerating again and same thing, lots of smoke, and more power. I had the dog with me and needed to do some more errands. I shut off the truck, take the dog into the house, come back out start the truck. Try accelerating again and normal, minimal smoke and felt back to "stock" power.



Truck runs like a champ everyother time but that one. No signs of loss of power, missing cylinders, or anything. Kinda puzzled, heard of loss of power at times, but not gaining power?

Any thoughts... I'm at a loss

Got me, mine is stock and smokes more than my 2nd Gen thats far from stock.

Sometimes mine does that too, Im thinking that the FCA is acting up? I need to get a rail pressure gauge on it to confirm, but its just a thought.

After thinking about it the whole afternoon that's about all I could come up with. Maybe an injector acting up? I really doubt that, just tossing an idea out there.

I don't have any gauges either, really considering ordering a few. Need them anyways, was just trying to hold off a little while longer.

As another noted, the fuel control actuator could be at fault, although that part usually causes severe rattling or surging when it is going bad. Your accelerator pedal position sensor (under the driver's side battery beginning with some 2004 models) might be the culprit.

APPS is on the firewall with 05 and later trucks and is usually pretty solid since it is now away from a lot of elements and vibration.



Sounds like the FCA is just sticking a bit once in a while. The problem will show up when it quits working and the truck won't go over 25 mph.

Ya and I tend to make a trip to Idaho from Colorado about once a month. So, more then likely it will break at about half way But hey that's what towing insurance and sick days are for right:-laf



I think I'll just go buy a FCA put it under the back seat. Start my Mopar part store that i've read others already having under their back seat.
