Well I will try the same subject but with a "catchier" title!

I posted a few days ago that my truck has more power at 3/4-7/8 throttle then at full throttle and received no responses. I thought maybe someone else might have experienced the same symptoms and resolved them?

I disconnected the batteries for about 20 minutes then reconnected and moved the throttel to the stop and back slowly to no avail. (maybe a little better but not much)

Can the TPS or what ever it is called on the 24v's be adjusted like on the 12v's? Would this help?

Yes, my lift pump is working fine.

Any suggestions?

I had the same feeling, but I don't know for sure that power output was down. I THINK it is some sort of torque management in the ECM, but I have absolutely nothing to back that up. When stock I did not have this feeling in the truck either, only after bombing. I have a Torqus Maximus ECM on mine now and do not have that feeling like it is faster at 3/4 throttle anymore. The harder I pust on the go pedal the faster it gets.

I was wondering if it was some type of torque management thing, maybe. Any way of getting rid of it?

I really noticed it when pulling the 4 place snowmobile trailer; flooring it did not slip the TC but 3/4 throttle would do so fairly easy. From a stop light I really don't notice it, just when on the highway empty and pulling around 65-70'ish. It has to down shift unlike the ole' 12v that would just grunt it out and GO!

It pulls nice with the EZ and DD II's but not as nice as the 12v would. Above 80mph the throttle position "thing" is not really a factor.

On a side note: man does this thing go, top end wise, 120MPH empty. A guy in a BMW couldn't believe I could keep on his back bumper:--)

At the off-ramp he had to roll down his window and ask "what does that thing have in it?"

"Just a little strait six diesel?";)

That is exactly what caused me to notice it. I was not able to slip the TCC at WOT but I could EASILY at 3/4 or so before I put in the larger injectors. Now I can slip it anytime I want. One thing to keep in mind though is that the auto transmission clutches are being held by lower pressures at 3/4 throttle than they are at full throttle. Even so, I still think that it made more torque at 3/4 throttle.

The only to get rid of it IF IT IS a torqe management thing would be reprogramming of the ECM or a different ECM. I have a manual transmission ECM (Mopar uprate) on my truck and it does NOT feel stronger at 3/4 throttle, but I do have some idle quality issues.

That TSB does not apply to my truck for sure, and mine has NEVER been flashed for any reason. It should not apply to Brecks ride either unless his was one of the last 00 models. Thanks for the info though!!

I don't know if it will help but you can recalibrate the APPS by unhooking your batteries for a while (half hour or more) re-connect the batteries, turn the key on slowly press the pedal to the floor, then slowly release it. Turn key off then start it as usual. This will recalibrate your APPS on the truck.

Worth a try

Hope this helps

Mark

Thank you for the info.

Any way of checking to see if the APPS is working correctly? I know I could do it with the TPS on the 12v's; I would think you could with the APPS?? Anyone know what wires to check for voltage readings if that is the correct way to do so?

I tried unhooking it like Mark suggested but it really didn't do anything... . maybe just my imagination it helped, but not much.

P/S. I am beginning to think more and more it is a torq. management thing. I guess I will just have to re-learn how to drive with this truck.

Any of you 12v guys that switched over to the 24v's notice this as well?

DO ya think maybe THAT was what he was talking about in his first post, when he said he had done THIS:

"I disconnected the batteries for about 20 minutes then reconnected and moved the throttel to the stop and back slowly to no avail. (maybe a little better but not much) "

:p ;) :D

Just for the record, my last comment wasn't at MARK Smith... ;)

And I hardly think *I* have the "ego" market cornered... :p ;)

Let's let it die... :-{}
