i know you can buy kits that you can intall..... i need to know which is best and why any help out there thanks in advance

Tufcater,
Congrats on the new 01 and welcome to the forum.
What to do, well I suggest you do some research on this board as there has been a lot of things said about different products and it becomes a personal choice.
I do recommend the following by order of purchase and install:

1. Boost and EGT gauages, a must to know what your engine is doing after modification.

2. 4" Exhaust, turbo back.

3. A good set of injectors will give you the best performance and mileage will increase.

4. Look at some of the electronic boxes that are available to change fuel, boost, and timing curves in the engine.

Do some research and good luck to you.
Mike

Is your "01 a 6-speed? If so the clutch will limit what you can do unless you are willing to address the replacement of the junky oem clutch.

Nowel/Performance Diesel

Yeah, but Nowel, ain't that an undervalved pilot AKA Adam Force in your Redram????
Maybe that's why he can only light up the rear tires. He can get only half of the valves to work hehehehe #ad

I would not hurry on the 4" exhaust. A lot of dyno testing has shown it not to help greatly. You might just get rid of the stock muffler and resonator and that will give you just about all the gain you will be able to use up to 350-400 hp. A bigger turbine housing will help more, but will cost some low end snap.

Alot depends on whether you bought an Auto or a stick. There are big differences.

HVAC,
Your getten pretty good at this puter thing #ad

tufcater,

My first mod was the Power Edge module from Edge Products. My clutch held on all three levels. Soon after that I installed the SPA digital boost and EGT gauge. In my opinion this is a good starting place because if you start having problems with your clutch or TC you can just put it on a lower level with a simple touch of a button while your driving. I installed mine on the steering wheel column. Hope this helps.

Love the smell of diesel in the morning. Hope your watchen DC cuz every thing you see here is a big lie, Hehe.

The 14 is wastegated, direct fit, cuts egt maybe 100 deg. The 16 is not wastegated, you must push exhaust system forward 1. 25" because the housing is shorter. It cuts egt maybe 200 deg. The 16 is much more noticeable a change in quickness of response (poorer). The 16 is a lot cheaper, around $150-200 vs. $500+. The sag is more noticeable with an auto trans and tight converter. The HX40 with 16 cm2 housing seems a lot more responsive than the 16 on the HX35.

have heard that bd has a good power boost chip? anyone heard of it or seen it in action. buy the way the truck i am trying to power up has the 6 speed trans... i love my dodge... this is my 3rd one 6 in the family robert

My advice to you is, hook up with a BOMBed (not liquored up!) TDR member near you and see what they have to say and how thier rig works. That will help you to decide what would be good or bad. If you were around here, I'd be glad to help you out. Most other people would be also. You're in good company.

Tufcater... . The BD box I believe is the VA box with their name on it...

I have the Power Edge EZ and 275 injectors. .

You will Love this combo and it is as much as the stock clutch will hold...

There has been a bunch of posts on this setup. . Do a search and you will get pages of posts!

If money is Tight do the PE EZ first... It is amazing the difference on the stock ETH. .

RobbyRam - I have the EZ and 275's in my auto truck and it runs great. I also have a regular PE box and the three together are fantastic. Although the EGT's can get a little high. If I could do just one thing to my truck I would choose the Valve body and torque converter. It makes a huge difference on just a stock truck and if you decide to do more then the transmission is covered.
