Under the response to "Frequently asked questions" it is stated that Cummins has introduced a new thermostat that eliminates the temp. swing . I dont know how current that info. is but the last thermostat I bought ( about 4 months ago )does not have the same part # given in that response and has not been satisfactory. The new Part # are (cummings 3934373 and Mopar 05014568AA). The part I got and installed from Dodge dealer was Mopar# 1-83506401. Anyone know if this is the old part # or another "new-improved". Thanks Bob

Bob,

I just installed a Themostat that I bought right from Cummins, and Baby I got HEAT !:D . I had a themostat from napa and it wasn't worth crap, No heat, I had to install a grill cover to make any heat at all !. Now no grill cover and I can cook you out of a CREW CAB at 30 degrees outside !!!! I also noted that my truck runs a bit better also. I also noticed that the Cummins Thermostat has a center part that makes contact with the head & the openings are much larger than the Napa thermostat. As for the temp swings haven't noticed any at this time.

Kyle

PS. Grill cover for sale CHEAP;) :D

Thanks Kyle Ive been out of town and just now saw your reply to my post. Think I'll try that Cummings thermostat, do you have the part #?Im on my third thermostat from Mopar and am not satisfied with what I'm seeing. I know what you mean about no heat, when the temperature is in the 30's &40"s it takes 15 miles to move off the peg on the gauge. Bob

Cummins Part Number 3802273,

Product Code, CECO.

Price $24. 48

Thermostat for 1991 5. 9 Cummins "Non Intercooled" with AC. I have been extremely happy with this thermostat so far, my Cummins warms up MUCH faster and I have lots of heat. Coldest out side temp so far was around 30 degrees. Also note I am running a New 91-93 Cross flow radiator with correct fan shroud in place.

Thanks Kyle That might not be the correct no. for my 93 but it will give me something to work from. Thats a better price than what I gave for the last ones I bought . As soon as I get caught up I'll give it a try. Bob

Drives Mopar Cummings part #for Kyles 91 is3802273. I believe the Cummings # for my 93 is 3934373. Perhaps the intercooler is the difference. Havent had time to get one yet. Bob
