erratic cruise control

brake controller question?

Looks like the springs on the slideout side of my 5th Wheel are going to need replacement (Spring arc is much less than curb side, distance from spring pad to stop is less). Wondering if anyone out there ( Barry are you there ) has any experience with the conversion to Morryde. The trailer is a 1996 HitchHiker 36 Premier RK. 11,800 UVW, 7000k dexter axles. The Morryde setup that I am looking at is the Morryde independent rubber torsion spring. They claim that it greatly improves the ride of the trailer and reduces the incident of breakage of stuff in the kitchen in the RK models. ????

I do not have the Mor-Ryde, yet, Scheduled to have the system installed on my 5er in April at the factory. I have talked to a few people that do have it, and they all swear by it. Although, I suspect some make it out to be better then it acually is. Once I have the system on and travel a few miles I will post my results.

torsion/torflx axles?

Are these another version of the torsion axles most widely known by the dexter torflex name?

If so, I've done some homework on them. The biggest consideration is that you are eliminating the "equalizer" feature that exists on a typical leaf set-up. For this reason it is imperative that the rig be set-up level so each corner is sharing the load going down the road. You will always have the occasional bumps and dips but these are designed to handle that- just not to have one axle doing most of the work on a full time basis. These axles are recommended for tandem use only. The racking that would occur in tight corners on a triple would be hard on the rubber torsion part of the deal. These do ride very well, with no need for shocks due to the design. Various ride heights are available.

I fabbed a custom trailer which is basically a 23' 5er with a subframe and 17' flatbed in back to haul my jeep. I'm using two 6k torflex axles and I'm very pleased after about 4k miles, will do another 8k in 02. I'll never have leaf springs again in my trailers.
