I'm done with spending so much time researching oil. When the CJ spec oil came out, I was so skeptical that I had to have more of the CI-4+ oil. In 2008, I purchased one of the last 55 gallon drums of Valvoline Premium Blue Classic CI-4+. When that was gone, I purchased a drum of Delo Multigrade CI-4+. I'm to the point now that if it passes the Cummins spec CES 20081, and now CES 20086, I'm okay to use it.

I just purchased a drum of Purus for $7.99/gal earlier this week.

I am on my 5th change of CK-4. Have run UOA's on each one and one is going to have a tough time convincing me that CK-4 is not up to the task.

Agreed, there are more tests specific to the ISB That are required for the CK4 approval than CJ4. Improvements in high-temperature oxidation stability, Improved aeration control, and improved shear stability. The CJ4 that was touted to be the end of the world by many on here was the spec for 10 years. I seriously doubt anybody can show proof of an oil related failure in that time frame. And CK4 has already proven to be that much better than CJ4.
