biodiesel question

Bio Diesel differant than strait veg oil ?

I have a 1998 12 valve Dodge and end up with a lot of used oil from the transmission and engine.

Is there a safe way to filter it and blend it in my fuel and just use it as fuel without causing problems? My P7100 is oil lubed.

I've heard of people using home heating oil for fuel also without problems or so they say.

Just curious as Waste Management gets it now. Thanks, Herb

Don't do it. Oil won't burn well, lots of soot and despoits will result. ATF burns even worse. The top half of the P7100 is lubricated by fuel, so fuel quality does matter. Your piston rings will also thank you for using good fuel. #2 heating oil is very close to #2 diesel but without the road tax, so it is not legal to use.

ATF has friction modifiers as well, don't think it would be good for the injection pump.

If you want to burn motor oil do it in small quantities, like no more than 1-2 gallons per fuelup, and I'd only do it if it's mostly highway miles and/or loaded up, never do it if you're urban/short tripping it.

If you search this forum there's some good discussion on this subject.
