2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission motor under the controller antilock brakes keeps running after the key is turmed off.

A friend just had that happen to his 2001 about a month ago and it turned out to be the ABS controller. It is the electronic part of the ABS unit on the driver's side of the truck under the hood near the firewall. The controller is a seperate part from the hydraulic unit and can be replaced without getting into the brake system. Dealer cost was very expensive but he found one at a wrecker for substantially less and so far it works.

My friend had this problem a while back on his 2001 and it was a bad amplifier circuit in the ABS controller. I removed the unit and sent it off to a place to be repaired. It was easy and didn't effect the brakes (but you have no ABS function while the controller is removed-no big deal) and it was pretty cost effective. It's been a while but I'm pretty sure this is who repaired it.

I just mailed the controller to them. Worked out well. That was a few years ago and it's still working great.

My 2001 Ram alternator spiked and failed. I replaced it then found the ABS controller to be affected, re: I assume a fried relay causes the motor runs all the time.

I disconnected two plugs on top of the controller now I have no speedometer. Is there a fix while I send my controller in for repair? Thanks
