I want a bike!

Whats my bow worth?

I know how to ride, though I may do a riding course also, but obviously I need my license.

Do I buy a bike, then get the license with the bike I am going to ride, or get one before I buy?

Thanks!

Nick

I don't know if you need the license for purchasing or not.

In Colorado you take a written test to get your Permit. You may be able to take the written and road test on the same day but you should be used to your bike before you take the road test.

I can't find the link right now but the motorcyle study guide is available in a pdf on one of the websites. I have a copy if you would like me to E-mail it to you. It has all the details of the road test.

Chicken or the egg?

If it were me I would get the license first, that is assumming you can borrow someones for the test. I can see it now, you are riding home from the dealer with your new bike and you just clicked over 1 mile on the odometer and run over some poor ole grey haired lady in her Desoto. Her car is not damaged and all she has to do is change her depends diaper, your bike is totaled but your insurance which you just paid for the day before wont cover it because you have no motorcycle license. And now the old grey haired Desoto driving lady is suing you for emotional trauma from you making her pee her pants. Far fetched for sure but you never know whats gonna happen.

I had a bike for years and rode it almost everyday with every intention of getting the motorcycle endorsement but after I got the bike I just never made it over to the DMV to get it. Fortunately for me I never needed it.

Thanks, I found out info! If I take a course at one of the local cycle training places its $165 for 8 hours of riding, 6 hours of classroom time, will provide bike and helmet, then show the certificate to the DMV, waive the written exam, get the license. However, BMW, is not reimbursing anymore!

I know what you mean Barry! I wouldn't want to do that either.

Kirk, if you wouldn't mind sending the test details anyway, that would be great! -- email address removed --

$165 sound like a good price and I think you may get a reduction in your insurance if you take the class.

Be careful out there!
