My friend wanted to know how long would his 6v batteries last? He just bought the motor home and thinks the batteries are low and questionable. Its a 2005 model year vehicle. It seems thehes batteries are expensive as well. thanks, jim

Put two of these batteries on my travel trailer year and a half ago. Been real happy with them, they will outlast a single 12 volt battery thats capable of deep cycles. True they cost a bit more but if you keep an eye on them (water level, voltage level) and use distilled water you should be pleased. When charging I'll hook up a digital voltmeter and charge them upto 13. 65 volts about every 5-6 weeks.

Our '88 KIT 5er came with a pair of 6 volt Trojan deep cycle batteries - I *always* maintained them well, kept them fully charged, and they lasted 8 years. I began to experience increased voltage drop, and what appeared to be inability of the batteries to take/hold a full charge - so figured it was time for replacements. Put in new deep cycle batteries, and they behaved EXACTLY the same as the ones I had just removed. Discovered that although all the crimped on connectors throughout the system LOOKED good externally, inside, corrosion was causing poor current flow. I removed ALL those OEM crimped on connectors, and replaced them with new ones I soldered on - I gained nearly 2 volts at the far end of the 5er 12 volt system, and all was well again. Gave the "old" Trojan batteries - that were still charging and holding charge nicely once removed from the RV, and gave them to my dad to use on the RV he had at that time - they were still operating perfectly, when he sold that RV several years later.
