been thinking of ways to use stack with hard tonneau. thought of doing a pipe in a pipelike the hood stack guys but it would hit the cab opening. even thought about putting it in the back of the bed and making it short but not sold on that yet.

any ideas?

Well, if you had a dually or didn't mind it looking kinda funny on a SRW, you could mount them on the outside, like this. I did it to copy the Li'l Red Express Dodge built in the late '70's. Works really well and allows me to use the whole bed.

Wow, 7" is HUGE. My pipes are 4". While I like the mitre cut look, my concern is that rain gets down there too easily when parked. Even my curved pipes get some water in them. I put old juice/water bottles over them when parked during rain. You'd have to find some pretty big bottles for yours. Good luck with trying to figure it out. I'm looking forward to finding out what you come up with.

I considered cutting an oval ended slot in my tonneau after I installed my 6" single. I had drawn up some ideas on how to funnel any rain/snow to drain without getting in the bed.

I was going to build a U shaped cover that attached to the bed and would be the height inside the bed to the tonneau closed. Put a lip on the top and some kind of rubber seal either on the lip or bottom of the tonneau. Seal around the bottom of the U shaped cover and then drill some drain holes inside it.

But someone wanted to buy it first. I am still considering doing that with a different cover in the future.

did you ever check out to find out how big the oval has to be. it seems like the oval would have to be pretty big to open with a stack in place

Like this

I did it like this with a soft cover, a hard cover will be a little more work but it can be done.

How does that do for keeping rain out? Has the tonneau ever gotten hot or melted a little? I'd imagine the egt's are relatively cool enough by then to not be a hassle.

Any rain that gets in must follow the pipe down and out the hole in the bed, because the bed has never gotten wet. The cover has never melted, when it get's hot it shrinks and pulls back away from the stacks then when it cools it gets tight again

Another way to approach this is to come out from the cab with a fixed (non-movable) cover maybe 10"-12" or whatever it takes to get past the stacks. Then start the hinged cover at that point. This way you could have a nice tight fit around the stacks. You might be able to modify an existing cover if you were handy with fiberglass, or if you are going to buy one you could have it custom made for this application.
