I'm trying to figure out why I've lost 2. 5 - 3 MPG all of a sudden. I normally fill up at my regular place, but decided to try a different place in another town just to rule out my fuel source. I got the same results with the fuel from the other source.
I noticed the decrease right after I had the rear-end rebuilt. At first, I suspected the rebuild might have been the cause, but now I'm doubting that. I don't have a way to directly measure the temp, but a hand to the diff after a long drive tells me nothing unusual is happening - it's not particularly warm/hot.
What do ya'll think? Could the rebuild account for the difference - tighter setup w/ a little more drag maybe? Seems like it would take a lot to make 3 MPG difference.
What else can I check? I went ahead and replaced my air filter even though the minder still showed no restriction.
Thanks,
-john
