MPG for the record

2,500 miles on truck. 180 mile trip 1/3 high mountain driving. Hitting 90mph 2 or 3 times cruising at 68 t0 70 mph. 500lbs including passengers and load. Winterized fuel. 19. 5mpg computed with calculator and odometer. Did not baby truck, just drove normal.

That is outstanding! I am envious of your MPG.

I have been tracking my fuel since I purchased my truck over a year ago. I have been gentle with the truck and have gotten as high as 21 mpg, on a trip from Lafayette, LA to Corpus Christi, TX unloaded. Or hard on the truck by pulling my 37 foot Fifth Wheel and got only 8 mpg. But over all, driving hard or driving soft, I get on average (41,000 miles worth of average) 17-19 miles per gallon of fuel. (Not counting my loaded miles).

I think that for a 4x4 3/4 ton truck this is pretty good, Better than I got with my half ton gas burner.

I just did a 330 mile round trip from a fuel sta. returning to the same sta.
Used #1 diesel, 98. 5-3500 4x4; 5 spd, truck empty w/2 passengers, drove 55 to 65 mph, 180 miles in 4 whl, drive, temp from 15F to 38F.
Calculated from diesel put in the truck and mileage from speedo: 17. 69 mpg
Wish it was more but better than a 454, 460 or my old 360 gasser.

Just filled up tonight, and I figured my mileage to be 20. 8. This is 50/50 highway/city mileage, and is computed using a calculator. Trip computer reads a whopping 26. 0! Guess those DD3's messed with things a lil bit, eh? #ad
