My mileage dropped by 3 MPG today on the way home from Charlotte and there are three reason that could cause it.

1. bad fuel

2. New spring in FASS constant 16psi

3. ran 4wd for about 30 miles on this tank.

Which one of these is the one that probably caused it. I was getting 18MPG and then now its 15. 5MPG.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Trey

I would guess a combination of 1) Bad fuel, and 3) Ran 4WD.

Charlotte is one of those places where your fuel is liable to be different from one fill-up to another based on potenial weather. I've had really sketchy results with fuel from the Carolinas, and I've always assumed it's due to different blends of "winter fuel" when colder weather is expected in the next few days.

Since I don't run a FASS, I don't know much about its ultimate resluts on the system, but I can't imgine it would make that huge a difference either way (1 mpg, sure, 3mpg, I'd wonder--someone with FASS experience verify/correct me here :) )

4WD can make a significant difference in how well it runs, especially if you're running in what I call "4WD conditions" -- eg. slow, careful, and most likely geared back somewhat.

Just my thoughts

well i to think it was the fuel. On the trip that normally i can make on half a tank took 3/4 of a tank this time. i just filled it up again tonight and i am already back to my normal 18MPG.

Colder temps make a big difference also. I know they were getting snow down that way, but I don't know what the temps were! I go from getting around 19 to 20 mpg in the summer to around 16 or 17 in the winter up here in MI, do to the treated fuel and colder temps! Just my 2 cents!
