I believe the price of fuel is going to keep going up what can we do to improve our mpgs. Everything I've done gives me more power but no improvement in mpg( it has stayed the same) about 17-18.

Dr. Bob,

Your 17-18 mpg is good for the mods. My trouble, maybe yours, is heavy right foot equals not the best mpg. Remember, the fuel is going in at a larger rate now. Also, you can't get that feeling from your wife's minivan.

I live near enough to Ind. to buy cheaper fuel there every two weeks. The choice is yours where you buy. Can you imagine paying for an 18 wheeler fill up?

I can get up around 21 on the highway if I cruise around 60-65. But I usually cruise around 70-75 which drops my MPG down to 17. 5 most times (unless I get a tail wind). Around town it's pretty crappy, 15 at best.

Well ... other than changing from 4:11's to 3:54's, I can only think of 2 things. 1. Slow down. I got the same result as Nathan. 2. Install a Valet Switch. It takes rack travel outa the equation. If you're heavy footed, it'll help a lot more on MPG than if you're easy.

I have a '97 5spd 4x4 Mine was gettin about 15 to 17 at 70mph. My truck is stock so i figured i should do better. I put in a K&N filter in it and straight stock exhaust. Now i get 21 to 22 at 65mph and 17 to 18 at 70mph. I even turned up my pump as far as i could and didnt change milage but sure gave me more power.

im getting about 22 hwy when cruise control is set, and really crappy mileage driving city. partially because i cant keep my foot out of the smoke show! :-laf
