So we have admittedly a pretty low end coffee maker, it's a Target special, but it's not that old was acting weird for the wife today cycling thru the clock. It now has a constant Ec2 error.

My guess is this thing is shot, personally I don't need a fire caused by a complete POS, so I'm going to toss it either way.

But I tried to find some info on these Error codes and I guess that whole right to fix does not apply yet to junk coffee makers.

Of course there are dozens of fake websites that are super sketchy that look like they have info, but are not safe to click on for sure.

It's like super top secret..... just in case anyone else already ran this one down worth a shot.

Only thing I can find from Mr Coffee is the “Empty water reservoir and unplug for at least 5 minutes” reset. Probably you already found that..

I can't speak to the Mr. Coffee but my wife bought a Keurig a few years back. I'm not a fan of the Foo' flavors etc and nothing was better than the old style percolator that I was raised with and the same pot sits on a hot plate in my office. The youngsters still walk in and ask, "What is that?":)

Appricate the look,, I gave that a shot, same.

The thing is probably under warranty, but when the wife said it would not shut off yesterday and was acting all weird and she had to pull the plug, I could see us fixing it and then having a real problem if we forgot it one day and the auto shut off did not work.

I make coffee at Church in the larger old school percolator deals they are pretty cool. You can really make some super strong coffee with those.

We don't drink a ton, maybe make a pot of 8 cups that works out to like 3 or 4 mugs each day in the AM. Then once in a while do a small batch at night after dinner. I'm working on a Mr Coffee graveyard have 3 total now that are junk, guess have to settle on a better machine.

I'm with ya, but I gotta give credit where credit is due. Wife bought a Keurig several years ago. She uses it often, as in all day being she works from home. I use it in the am to make a to go mug on my way out the door. I am up at 130am for work a minimum of 2 days a week sometimes up to 4 or 5 days a week. The thing stays on 24-7 to keep the water hot and ready for a cup. You can use it to make a regular cup of coffee (me) or foo foo stuff (wife) :)
It took a while but I am officially a fan.

Came with resuable pods so you can fill them with whatever coffee you prefer rather than buying the expensive pre packaged pod thingamabobs. Always fresh unlike the several hour old pot thats been sitting on the hot plate....to each their own.

It's been a really good machine.

Just need 20 minutes to make a cup....:D

;) ... not even close !!!

1500w Electric kettle will boil water in less then 5 minutes.

Meantime grind coffee beans and place in filter while enjoying the aroma of fresh ground coffee beans.

Pour boiling water over filter cone after water boils

Check your phone for TDR newest posts while coffee drips into thermos cup (1 minute)

Drink black or enjoy blonde and sweet ... your time = your choice :D

And the kit will NEVER break down !!!

When we travel we take two coffee pots in the camper with us in fact they are stored all year in the trailer. One is a Mr. Coffee and the other a Keurig machine. At home we have a combination coffee maker which includes a Keurig style type. When any of them cause any issues they are junked immediately. I do not need a electrical fire and they are all a low cost item to replace, usually around $50.00 or so.

For morning coffee we will use the MR. Coffee pot to make at least 8 to 10 cups. In the evening my wife and I usually have a cup of coffee after diner using the Keurig style coffee maker at least three or four times a week in the warmer months. During the winter months it might be every night with the fireplace on and relaxing before bed time.

I find the distilled down all day "sludge" is a little stronger...

No, they are disposable units. Figure the heater got too hot and opened the thermal fuse or the water level sensor is dirty.

Aside from camping we have switched to Keurig's. We have one at home and the same machine at work.

It's been 4 or 5 years this way. We did have one fail early on but it was replaced under warranty and still going strong.

We like it because it's fast, hot, and fresh when you want it. We still grind our own beans and use the reusable containers to reduce waste.

While camping we stick to a stove top percolator.

Yeah they don't like infrequent RV use and don't last. We now have a smaller single cup Keurig for the RV. It also makes hot water for Tea and Hot Coco.

After Gen hours I handed the percolator to one of my guests and told them to "Put it on the campfire." They did... They put "out" the campfire with it. So we used it on the stove to make Hot Coco that evening. Yes, other adult beverages were heavily involved so that may have explained it.

THis thread makes me glad I'm a tea drinker, but understand those who will appreciate the original long-version intro to "Cheers"...You roll outta bed Mr. Coffee's dead, the morning's looking fine...
