Just received the Power Store Cummins/Ram mudflaps. Can't say I'm overjoyed. They don't seem to provide the coverage I thought they would and they don't look like they'll last very long. Who makes a decent mudflap that's high in quality and not way too much money like Northwest Custom?

I just got the "Husky-Liner" brand of mud flaps for the Ram. They make them custom fit for the Rams. They look really nice, they can be painted to match if you want. They are made out of hard plastic and seem like they will last a long time. I bought stainless steel screws for them and used silicone around the screw holes to eliminate any possibility of rust I just left mine black. As far as coverage go, they do a decent job, they stop alot of the mud, but some will still get up on the rocker panels. The only mud flap that would stop all mud would be so big, it would not be worth it.

EMDDIESEL:

Looked at the husky liners you mention. Nice looking as you say. However, past posts concerning molded mud flaps reveal that they vibrate and rub off the paint below, especially at the edges, over time. Do you feel these shouldn't do this based on their installation? Please let us know what you think. I'm personally looking at a few brands. All offer good, but maybe not great protection. Problem: $100 plus for dually rears. #ad

Or what you pay for twice! I had not heard about NW Custom when I bought my other mudflaps. Fought with them for coming up on two years. Just ordered a set from NW Custon last week. Wish I would have done it right the first time.

WELL, mine's a first-generation truck (see pointer in sig), and I used diamond plate aluminum for mine that I added additional lights to = looks real nice, especially at night when the lights are on, and does an excellent job of protecting my truck and trailer... #ad

No rust on mine and i live in the Northeast (Lots of salt). They dont wear the paint down to the metal, they basically just cause surfaces scratches, nothing too bad.

Hey guys, anyone with NW Custom rear units that could take some measurments,I have a buddy that can bend the alum diamond plate, thanks in advance. #ad

I am sure over time, mudflaps will wear the paint behind them down, or at least scratch it. But why would you be removing your mudflaps?, the only time you ever would, Would be to replace them, right? so who cares if it messes up the paint behind them, your not going to see it anyway. I think nice mudflaps look 100 times better then chips all over your rocker panels, or that "Sandblasted look".
I have a Lund Bug deflector (The one that fits between the grill and the hood, no adhesive, so it will NEVER blow off or have to wrry about the foam adhesive tape failing). Alot of people bad mouth it becasue it scratches the paint. It DOES scratch the paint at the extreme front edge of the hood, but it is IMMPOSSIBLE to see it, unless you remove the bug deflector, which i never plan on doing. And like mudflaps, the bug deflector looks better then chipped hood paint.
What i am trying to say is, dont worry about hidden cosmetic paint damage if what causes it will be on your truck as long as you own it. Just buy a nice looking, well made product the first time, and you will never have to remove it.

Are you serious? I have seen dozens of Rams with the Mopar molded mud flaps that have rust... that's right, they rubbed right down to the bare metal. In fact, I ran my finger over one that had worn a slight depression in the sheet metal. #ad

I guess it depends upon your installation.

Oh, BTW, I live in the Northwest where it rains ALL THE ******* TIME!

Kevin

If you do produce some I wouldn't recommend selling them, Jason has a patent* on the design of the NW Custom mud flaps.

*or patent pending

John , I have no intensions of selling them, I will use them as a baseline for my design which I plan on altering a bit to accomidate my needs. Kevin

I dont have the Mopar ones, i have the Husky liner mud flaps, and i check every few months, just some very light scratching from sand caught between the plastic and the inside wheelwell, nothing too bad
