Is there a site out there you all recommend for some high quality, thick all rubber mud flaps? Waxed my truck yesterday and noticed a lot of paint chips on the quarter panels. Need to take care of that!

I put J&J on mine. Really good quality and nice heavy hardware.

I did the same as Marshall did, went to a truck stop, only I had to buy the weights. Total was less than $50. But then I had to mount them!! Anyway, I would suggest the stiffer plastic flaps because they don't seem to sail as much.

Free truck when you buy mud flaps!

;) I bought a nice set of mud of mud flaps with weights and they gave me a 2003 truck for free ;) ;)

Actually, I was asking the same type questions when we ordered our 2003 and the dealer installs free mud flaps with the dealer logo. I think they are a stiff rubber and have a chrome (weight) logo.

In addition, because we had so many rock chips in the rocker panels we are also adding the 3M clear film to the rocker panels. If it doesn't hold up, then we will go to the chrome ones.

the waiting is the hard part - - 3 weeks and counting!

I bought the Pro Flaps for the rear on my truck, they are the stiffer plastic kind and have a stainless steel weights at bottom.

The ones I bought are 14" wide has a #2 on box.

They are nice flaps, good quality.

I also got some from a truck stop along with the weights. I got plain chrome weights then had a local sign shop make up some stickers with my company's logo and put them on the weights. It looks pretty darn good if I may say so:D

FWIW-Just installed mopar flaps on my 03 and they seem to fit/work well. $38 per pair and install easily. Rears have ram head logo and fronts are plain.

I have to agree with Bob Wagner....

NW Custom makes a quality product. I've had these on the back for 18 months now and am very pleased.

One thing to bear in mind however, (goes for any brand of rear mudflap) if your exhaust pipe routing is conventional; You need to consider the position of your tailpipe section and it's proximity/clearance to the RHS rear mudflap.

I had to modify (extend/weld) my Diesel Dynamics 4 inch exhaust on the final bend to ensure this would not be a problem.

Hey JohnMcIntyre, can you get a picture up close of those mudflaps? I've been looking and looking - can't decide or found one that I like... Did you also get some for the front? If so, what do they look like?

Thanks, Michael

WYSIWYG

Hey Michael, that's all I can do for now unfortunately - my digital camera has developed what looks like a terminal problem :{ . In the meantime, you could always check the embedded link in my profile below for NW Custom and check their website? Last time I looked, there were various pictures there. BTW I only have the NW Custom rears, the fronts are still stock. Perhaps someone else will post a picture or two here for you?

john, really great!

gorgeous rear end on your truck, almost as pretty as my wife's, looks like quality stainless weights. I like how the sides of the flaps are encased in the weights.

When I bought my 2000 3500 4x4 it had around 30K+ miles and no mud flaps. I was surprised to find that it also had very few rock chips. I bought a very nice set of heavy rubber flaps with the chrome strip at the bottom. since I bought my new truck I have not added flaps and don't think I will unless I go with some heavy lug tires that will throw a lot of rocks. I love the look of the truck now more without flaps, and will buy some touch up paint if I have any chips.

With these 4x4's I see more chips from the front tires than the rear dually? Is that what others have seen?

That's what I've seen too.

That would make since because the front wheels stick out a little more than the rears. Also because as the wheels turn they are aiming the rocks/road junk onto the body during most of the turn.

Thanks :-laf :-laf Yeah, I'm a fan of big hips but on trucks only :D The added bonus of my rear hitch discourages tailgaters and once I get my Ute front bumper on, I'll be a lot happier.

Driving up and down the German autobahns on a daily basis, you get to see a lot of drivers with the pedal to the metal ( no speed limit! in fact you can be ticketed for driving below about 40mph!!). It's not uncommon to be driving at a steady 70mph and you'll be overtaken like you were going backwards and they'll disappear into the distance at around 130mph++ Some of them can handle the speed, not all of them exert the right amount of road awareness for braking distances. It certainly keeps me on my toes. I also thank God every day for my Grovers! Prevention is better than cure
