My DC is a 2003, 3500, 4x4, LWB and it needs a set of mud flaps to help protect my 5th-wheel trailer from rocks and mud. I really don't know what works best, the regular mud flaps such as the Mopar ones or the ones that mount on the trailer hitch receiver and pretty much go across the entire width of the truck. Maybe I need both, the regular ones to help protect the truck itself and would stay on all the time and the across the rear ones that I would just put on when getting ready to tow the trailer.

As for the "regular" mud flaps, are any of them really easy for a klutz like me to install?

Just added some tonight in the dark and rain. Only time the newborn would sleep.

Will try to post pics. Action Accesories here in Portland.

I have a set of mopar flaps the moulded kind. They are easy to install. Itook them off because they wont work with fender flairs. Send me a message if you want them

We just got a 04 crew cab at work, and need to put some good mud flaps like Rank Ram or Northwest Customs on soon. The truck is a DRW, and we were looking at mounting points and not coming up with anything that looked real sturdy. Any input? Is Jason at NWC making brackets and flaps for the 3G's yet?

TIA.

I'm thinking about a set too. Just don't know what to get. I can picture what I want in my mind though..... A large black mudflap, with a big "C" for Cummins on it:cool:

Hopefully someone makes one of these.

Thanks,

Dave

I ordered a set of the SRW flaps from the Cummins website. To me they were too rigid, too narrow for the tires, and the curve cut into them didn't match the profile of the wheel well all that great. I ended up never installing them - they are still shiny black with no holes. Was thinking about putting them up for grabs in the Pay it Forward forum, but my days off don't jive well with the post office/UPS hours here. Or maybe I can frame them and hang them on my living room wall! The Cummins website also sells the wider DRW flaps - maybe they could be adapted to fit the SRW better?

I currently have the standard mopar off-the-shelf flaps installed. With these the road spray/debris just deflects farther back on the rocker panels - didn't notice any paint chips yet though.

When I ordered my truck, I got it with the Mopar Heavy Rubber flaps - both front and rear.

They work quite nicely, both to protect the truck and to protect the 5er that's often attached.

They might not be much for looks, but they get the job done.

I thought about Northwest Custom, but I ended up getting them from http://www.kaydenco.com/ I got all 4 for about what a pair of NWCustoms cost. :)

They look good so far, just haven't been able to get them installed yet. I have a liner in my fenders, and had to figure out how to hold the nut on the inside of the fender when sticking the bolt thru.

I called Dennis, the owner, and he was sort of perplexed. He's been doing mud flaps for years (it's all he does), but he's only seen one 2004 with the liners. However, he just got a CNC machine. As soon as he masters it, all the mud flaps will have holes already drilled.

What I'm going to do is use the cardboard piece that came in between the flaps for shipping and make a template. I'll post all the pics with instrctions as I do the install.
