Recently, I stuck my '99 dually in the mud. It was the first time the truck was off the road, and I really did it!
The truck is black, and I always have loved black (when it is clean on a 80 degree day). This is my second black Dodge, and with my 1500, I never had this problem. My 3500 was stuck for a couple of hours, and once unstuck, was sprayed off with a fire hose.
The paint now has a "ghost" image of the mud that was on the truck. I have never saw anything like this before. I frequently use 3M hand glaze, then follow that with McGuiers (spelling?) wax. The truck has some fine scrates in it anyway, and the 3M does a great job "hiding" these.
I could not get the "ghost" mud image out of the paint until I used a very abrasive rubbing compound. Polishing compound or my 3M hand glaze did nothing. These "ghost" mud images are mainly on the front fenders and sides of the the hood.
I am getting close to painting it white or red, but I would like some suggestions as to removing what appears to be deep blemishes in the clear coat??
Any help appreciated.
