I want to change the OEM muffler. I am looking for a muffler that is louder than the stock set up. Haven't decided yet on weather to loose the cataliyic converter. I won't go with the straight pipe. If you have a p/n on your sugestion that would be great. Thanks Tom F.

tom , walker has a 3" straight thru , i think its 21468 , do a search on mufflers and you will find post by joe donnely , he recomends this muffler and you should be able to get it from your local parts store for under a c-note ...
 
Mine was about $57. 00 @ NAPA.

I will propbably replace my muffler soon. Just want to know from those who have replaced with the straight thru, WHAT'S IT SOUND LIKE?

Has anyone with this Walker muffler noticed any lower EGT`s.

Its real LOUD Under Load!. I had straight piped mine last year, But after pulling the trailer around for a while, Its gets real tiring fast. So I installed a Straight Dynomax round 3"x18" yesterday. Its Quiet now under load, But not as Quiet as stock. But more Quiet than the Alied Muff i had on the truck last year. No More Resonator either.

You might check some of my past posts on mufflers. If you keep the kitty you need the 4" to 3" adapter Walker #41563 and notch it and the muffler outlet for the alignment buttons the factory put on their pipes. I did get somewhat lower egt but your power level has to be well over stock to notice an inprovement from lower restriction exhaust. Furthermore, my experience is that 4" does not help until you get well over 350 hp. Best 4" muffler for good fit is the Walker 21471 because it is only 7" diameter. However it is about 36" long (30" shell).
