personally, I looked for something that would last. If you live where the roads are salted you guys might want to do the same.

T304 stainless is the only way to avoid having the mufflers and pipes rust out on you. Not that it will happen over night but, it will down the road. T409 uses iron as one of it's materials and is guaranteed to rust.

The Aero doesn't have factory mounts, Banks has the worst customer service you could find and they're are hugely over priced, not sure about Flowmaster but, their original pipes were made for gassers.

I may be bias because I have the MBRP but, IMO... it's one of the nicers exhaust out there. They also are only one a few manufacturers that make a true 304 stainless pipe. The MBRP does use the factory mounts and again IMO, sounds excellent.

I have my exhaust straight piped from the turbo back. Removing the cat lowered the egt's by almost 100F and it didn't change the sound of the exhaust at all. Using 304 will give you a completely different sound than using any other type exhaust. It's more a tuned sound than a rattle.

I just installed an MBRP. The install is easy, uses the stock mounts, doesn't cost much, and it's stainless.

It has a rumble to it, and it's only a little louder than stock.

just put the replacement mbrp muffler on tonight. fit was nice and easy and everything lined up but way too quiet... very dissapointed. i also bought the cat "test" pipe but figured i'd try just the muffler first. well the cats probably going tomorrow. question i know it wonk pass inspection without the cat, but will the dealer void warrranty on engine for it?

I've got an MBRP replacement muffler and got rid of the cat. I like the way it went onto the stock hangers and the fit was nice. The sound to me is just right especially when you have a load and hit a hill. I've taken the truck to the dealer for 1 repair and some service. I was never questioned before or after so I just kept my comments to myself. I've got an 05 3500.

yup just the mbrp muffler alone was too quiet so i figured i'd finish the job tonight and take the cat off too... i cut one slit in in the cat pipe and it came off in about 10 minutes... . not bad. now its got a nice sound to it. its still not loud by any means, but definitelly a noticible difference from stock, and definitelly a better alternative then getting a complete exhaust because it's a 4'' exhaust to begin with and i like the factory look... just my 2cents

It's not obnoxious, but is noticeable. I used a 51 inch Nelson mufffler on my 03. It's a 4 inch straight through muffler designed for vertical stacks in OTR tractors. It has worked great for me. I went to the local Fleetprode shop and picked it up for under a hundred bucks. TDR did an article on this exact install a couple issues ago.

Which is loudest? quietest? Best power? factory mounts?

Should be a good topic

I have the MBRP system, and it sounds awesome has a good rumble sound to it,anyway the drone in the cab was kind of annoying so I put a MBRP resonator on it and helped alot, still has a good sound too, price was fair,IMO the MBRP is the way to go,fits nicely too, hope this helps

Exhaust

I just installed a Silverline full exhaust system 4" turbo back. I have 2004 and put a 2005 exhaust elbow on so it would be a full 4" turbo back. I really don't like the Silverline because of the loud drone under load. I tried a MBRP resonator before the muffler and it didn't help much. I am now having a Magnaflow 14773 muffler installed and moving the Silverline back and take the resonators place.

I quess it is a sign of getting old. I need to talk to my wife while towing and this is not working now.
