Muffler elimination kit

This is my first post, been a member... 2 or 3 weeks, I bought the muffler elimination kit used with no instructions, and cant get the pipes out of the old muffler, any one have any ideas, i dont want to cut the old muffler in case its too loud...

you might as well go to the muffler shop and have it welded in... if you've still got the resonator up front, I can pretty much guarantee you that it won't be too loud... if anything, you'll probably think it's too quiet!

i have an 04 no cat just muffler, took the clamps off and the compression of them has the thing STUCK the tail pipe wont come out... ????

I had to pretty much destroy the inlet and outlet pipes on the muffler on mine. I used a chisel (since I lacked a torch or even a decent saw) and peeled the pipe back on the muffler.

Just thinking out load: Maybe using a die grinder make 6 or so horizontal cuts around the muffler flange. This might loosen it up so you can remove it. Also could reinstall it with some welding

For what it's worth, I cut a slit in the pipe back towards the muffler. When it split enough, I was able to wiggle the exhaust pipe out. Pretty much destroyed the muffler tube though Anyway, if you don't like the sound (doubtful, you'll love it!) just replace the muffler with a flow through aftermarket. You'll like it better than the factory one anyway! Welcome to the boards and the TDR!

I too have a ME kit sitting in my garage - came in the other day... started looking at my stock system, loosend the hangers and realized it is not coming off easy or in one piece, now I am deciding to mangle it - or take it to a shop, or not do it at all...

Thanks guys, ran out of weekend... they are never long enough but i think after your ideas ill be able to figure something out. . dont know why i couldnt think of anything, oh yeah because i was really agrivated... lol

You might want to search the 3rd gen site for "no muffler" type posts. I think yours'll get real noisy. I've heard 03's w/o muffler & it's like a ricer.
