Muffler flow direction

Just got a new muffler w/ cat test pipe from AFE, and was wondering which way the flow goes through this thing. I know I can call the dealer, but wanted to know if anyone has tried both ways and noticed any difference in sound. Should it flow into the holes or over them?

Over them. Into the holes would cause restriction

but, into the holes also catches and muffles the sound... hints muffler. what good does it do over the holes... . ?

Less restriction over the holes and a little quiter into the holes your choice. Guys have mounted them both ways.

if going over the holes why not just straight pipe it and save the weight???

I've tried it both ways and neither had any noticeable difference. (MBRP)

What JFalkners said. Had the MBRP kit 169. 00 at dppi. installed it my self using the into the hole logic. nothing wanted to line up right so went to the local muffler shop for some custom bending. The muffler guy in broken english as far as i could understand let me know i was an idiot and had it installed backwards, he pulled the muffler flipped around(over the holes) and every thing lined up perfect. So have ran the MBRP in both directions absolutely no difference in noise levels

Actually you'll get better sound dampening with it flowing over the louvers as it creates a low pressure area and "sucks" the sound waves in to the packing material on the back side of the louver, the reverse it thing is an old wives tale.

Mark, thanks for the reply on this thread and my other exhaust thread. Should have just called you from the beginning. Im trying to install the system today, don't know if I'll have enough time.
