well I just purchased a Walker 21471 thru muffler. I currently have cat still oin place but no muffler and its way load in the cab. Should I loose the cat as well and just install the muffler? Have drone now trying to get rid of it.

Anyone who has experience with these mufflers please chime in also.

I'm sorry i have a 2006 quad cab with auto. just put the Walker on and still have a drone when you really get on it. i still have my cat was wondering in allof these installations should i lod=sse the cat and just run a muffler? I'm not impressed with the sound its a little to quiet, wondering about the Magnaflow now

OK I cut the stock muffler off and had drone from 1600-2200,put a Walker 21741 straight thru muffler on and was reall dissapointed in the sound and there was drone at the high end of the RPM range. Istill have the cat should i loose it as well i want that deep rumble with no drone as quit in the cab as stock. Am I asking to much?

Banks Dual cat back kit! Nice sound No Drone. .

what a waste of money. You do not accomplish anything with a cat back kit other than shiny exhaust tips. . Then to get the BANKS name on there will cose you an extra $1000. .

Also there is no CATALYTIC CONVERTER on the 3rd gen trucks. It is known as a resonator. These trucks are known for the dreaded "Drone", but it is something you just learn to live with. There are ways to fix it, do a research on here with exhaust drone as your key word. .

Beg to differ, don't know when they started, but I know the 06s and 07s have kitties.

I believe 04. 5 to current have Cat Converters. Went into effect when dodge went from the 305/555 to the 325/600 setup on the engine. Not sure, but 04 california models might have them as well.

I remember when I put the 4" turbo back exhaust on my 98 12v! That motor woke up!! Then came the time I put the 5" TB magnaflow on Mighty Whitey! Holy flowing exhaust batman! Major difference!

If you are only planning a cat back exhaust, don't even waste your money. You will still have the backpressure which is what you're trying to eliminate when going with an aftermarket exhaust. Just my $. 02

You don't say what state you are in but inspections of the later diesel trucks are coming.

I'm in Florida, I don't no what to do. i thought about leaving the muffler and loosing the cat or maybe lossing all of it and instaling a resonator from FTB. to many options

Whack it all off, take it to a decent place that does inspections, one you know will not nit pick. I am sure you have buddies who have a "Hook up" talk around and see what you find.

I have an MBRP muffler and cat delete pipe. Love the sound and no drone. If I had to do it over again I would use the same muffler but leave the CAT PIPE. That does not mean leave the guts in it. The cat pipe is a nice peice! Pull it out of the truck and beat all the insides out of it. Save you money and will pass any visual inspection. The trucks will pass the emmisions test, I think the parameters they use are loose. My toyota passed no problem with the cat pipe hollowed out.

I just did the muffler-delete on mine, and granted I haven't towed anything, but there's no drone to speak of on mine running empty. It's got a radical sound. I left the cat on.

I beat the Cat out with it still on the truck. Not too bad of a job. Just get a shop vac with a long hose and when you think you are done start it up and rev it a few times. You wife won't approve of the noise or the mess but it werked fer me.

Incorrect... ... .

325/600,610 trucks are 50 state smog legal, there by running with cats.

I emptied mine reinstalled it on my 4" Silverline Turbo back system. I did this as to pass a visual inspection when they start performing "SnapThrottle" testing soon for Particulates.

In any case lose the kittie I noticed much less EGT's when pulling. Trust me when you see the inside the Cat you will be amazed at how the truck can even run with that piece of Tree Hugging BS.

Mac:cool:

AMEN!!

I still have the cat sitting around just in case my county starts doing emissions testing, but since I run bio, the only reason I have kept it is for the visual inspection.

I took my cat off and replaced with straight pipe and wide band clamps. If I ever have to put the cat back in, it'll be fairly painless.

Another option is to pound out the inside of the cat and weld a straight pipe into it. Looks like a cat, doesn't act like a cat. This has worked well for a buddy of mine.
