Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Muffler is toast @187k

Got under my truck to check the fluid in my 5 speed and found a big black mess under the bed. Two holes on top the muffler inlet pointing up painted it pitch black. Brought it to the local muffler shop and did emergency surgery. Out with the old and in with the new (straight pipe). Turned into a cheap bomb. 35 bucks. Good for lowering egts a bit Hope the neighbors dont mind the 0630 wake up call when I leave for work

Is it really louder for you? I've found straight pipes to be just as loud, just a different tone.

Inside the truck ,I dont find it much different. Like you said Bill,a different tone. Outside is much different. Sounds more like a dump truck than a pickup

They didn't really think too kindly of me when i installed my first bomb... (straight pipe) Said it sounded like a school bus... They dont mind as much now that they have had the sunday 0600 wakeup call from our 74 Huber road grader with the 4-71 detroit at full bore. :--)

Dont degrade it to a Dump truck!!! At least say it sounds like a Petercar, or a Rooster Cruisin' truck! Calling it a dump truck is like calling a maxipad a real diesel!! Haha, at least give that ol' Billy goat some credit there!

Muffler,EH,What muffler... ...

I am a little confused on this can ya help me. I just went to look under mine and its not there. Oh,thats right I remember now,there was this bright flash of light late one night see. I get up the next morning and find some strange looking burn marks in my front yard and a suspicious drag mark in whats left of the grass. crawl down to see whats missing and its GONE,ADIOS,MIA No muffler,wonder what gives. Only thing I can figure is somebody from way far away wanted it more than me,LOL.



Names ya say,kids in my neighborhood say mine sounds like a rabid garbage truck. Not sure where that came from,must be a younger generation deal... ... . Andy
