The tailpipe on my 02 Ram 2500 has rusted free of the muffler. I took my truck to my local Midas just to see how much it would cost for them to replace my stock muffler & tailpipe. They put it up on the rack and checked it out. They proceeded to give me an estimate for over $600. 00 for parts & labor - the great majority of the price was for the muffler itself.

I can see that there are a myriad of options for replacement systems and muffler elimination pipes, but has anyone out there found a good, quality replacement for the muffler & tailpipe at a reasonable price?

dont know what "reasonable" is to you but a SS 4" kit should run about $400. they are easy to install (it is harder to remove the old one!) MBRP, ANSA, magnaflo, ect. look on ebay too! its not a warrantee type of item and SS kits last forever so why pay a middleman?
try here too:

Pretty much my experience as well, except I priced parts at the local auto parts shop. I picked up a 4" turbo-back stainless kit (from Vulcan Performance) for less than a stock aluminized muffler & tailpipe alone would have cost me locally. I like to spend locally, but this is beyond that.

I had my $299. 4" Summit racing kit on for about 5 years & the exhaust is still in great shape. Only problem is that my tailpipe needs replaced. I just bought a tailpipe from Summit for $60, it is a Dynomax tailpipe from the same kit.

Check out Warpspeedperformance.com. I put my system on about three years ago. Your looking at about $310 delivered to your door step. My muffler is installed backwards so it act like a resonator and less like a muffler. The truck has a serious growl to it but zero annoying drone like you get with a straight pipe. The in cab sound level sounds is like a stock truck.

The exhaust market has gotten extremely competitive so there should be other similar deals out there as well. I had to do some trimming back when I bought my kit. I would make sure the kit you buy is a bolt on kit made for your wheelbase.

Agree w/DCreed - hardest part is removal get a reciprocating saw and make removal easier. Do it in your driveway with regular hand tools.

I just helped a friend put his muffler back on after having a muffler delete pipe for two years. I was amazed how easy it came back apart, it seems he neversized the pipes and that made them easy to take apart.

I plan to use a lot on my new system from geno's
