I was just curious as to what everyone thought of the "dyno" at Muncie? Did you like your numbers? What were they? Just curious!!

Although, I did not DYNO on the Mustang, I did see trucks that had higher numbers just 3 weeks prior on a DynoJet as compared to the Muncie Mustang.

When I say “higher numbers”, I would estimate that there was a 100 HP error. Just an observation.

J. R. , my 12-valve brotha!! What do you care... you have a bad syncro in 3rd anyway!!

Sweet ride man... . nice meeting you... and surviving your *interesting* driving manners..... :D

Take care,

Matt

I dyno'd this year and last at Muncie on the same dyno. I made thirty horsepower less this year with a better turbo and larger injectors. The guys with the dyno remembered my truck and that I made high horsepower last year and must have done 10 runs with different gears and computer setups, one run shows 117. 3 mph!! Their dyno is very is very consistent, my number varied just 10hp thoughout the runs and was within a 1hp except when the tires were slipping. I believe that the calibration was lower this year than last due to my truck making within two horspower at Sheids in August 2001 of what the Muncie dyno did in June of 2001. Both were Mustang Dynos that would pull full boost on my truck in direct drive. They told me that horsepower would be higher on a Dynojet but I can't see how a Dynojet can accurately measure horspower when it won't fully load a turbo diesel. That said, I believe that dynoing is mostly good for comparing trucks on the same dyno the same day and maybe for comparing mods on the same dyno. Horsepower numbers do make for great bragging rights though

Close Quarters!!

Yea, as close as we were to Merrick's bumper we could have counted the fleas on his tailgate!!!! I look fwd to seeing your "TWINS"! :D Are you going to Shied?

J. R. :D

Yeah, I'd like to think I'll be going to Scheid..... but it'll be a last minute thing... just like Muncie.

Not sure if my truck will be out there or not... .

Well maybe this time all the cameras will be back from the spring cleaning too!

Andrew;)

I had mine on the Dino at Muncie (first time ever)and thought I could have been a little higher with the mods that I have done. Note My truck was not fully warmed up and I had not turned up my injection pump. But it was still cool to see.

The guys at Muncie ran into the same problems we ran into in NE IA. Although, I agree that the calibration must have been off considerably. I am guessing by at least 20%. But after many attempts to figure out how far off it was exactly, I can't do it. Just too many variables.

But for those of you that didn't run the RPM sensor, or suspect it is bad, you can figure your torque with the below formula. Hang on cause it gets messy.

Torque (ft-lbs)=((Horsepower*5250)/((((Speed (mph)*63360)/(3. 14159*(((P-metric width*Aspect ratio*2)/2550)+Rim size (in)))/60)*Rear axle ratio)

I hope I got it transcribed right, if not someone should catch it. That formula is what we used in IA because we didn't have an RPM pickup. Now it's not pinpoint accurate, but it's what we had to work with. And it seemed to work pretty well.

I wasn't too impressed with my numbers either. I got 362 with all my mods below. I KNOW I have more than 400. My wheels started to slip at 382 on the dyno in IA. SO I can only believe (since both dynos are essentially the same) that the calibration must be off. That and the comment by the operator that everyone was saying that their numbers were low. Hello?
