My problems started with antifreeze in the oil. My dealer (which I trust) had tested it and decided it needed to be torn down. Feeling it was the cyl. head they called the higher up's and they said take it to a local shop that they spec. and have it checked, turns out the head is ok so they are putting a short block in it , my grief is in that they have had it for 2. 5 weeks and said that cummins wouldn't turn loose the parts until they had proof that the parts were nessesary . so I'm doing without for atleast another week. All I can say is I'm glad I don't depend on it to make a living. I guess Murphy is just testing my patience, at least if he's bothering me maybe he's leaving one of you other guys alone.

CUMMINS DIFFERENT

Did anyone check to see if the problem was the oil cooler in the block behind the oil filter? That's a prime suspect for your problem since they are known to fail. Maybe Cummins is right about waiting for some proof. If it's the oil cooler no sense in tearing down the engine.

They said oil cooler is ok, all I can do is hope that I don't have any more problems cause after the next 3 months it's my baby. After reading all the posts I believe it's time to BOMB! and if the stock parts are costing me big then the budget will be small.
I do know one thing though after 3 weeks without my truck I'm starting to have withdrawls.

I've been wondering why things have gone so smoothly with my truck the last week or so.

Big DQ I'm just glad I could be of assistance, on the bright side though I called the dealer today and he said the short block is in and my truck is starting to go back together.

How in the h*ll did they check the oil cooler. We have put in over 20 of these and only one could I tell from looking at it that it was leaking. I bet I know why cummins wants proof. Its because shops like these are putting in engines that are not needed. And why are they putting in a short block? Demand I cummins recon long block!!! it's only 6900. 00 dollars plus core. It is complete with turbo! think about what lubes the turbo... . oil! and antifreeze does not help it at all!. I hope you think about all of this as your truck is your best friend!

Hey! I had nothing whatsoever to do with these failures! I've been in MN harvesting corn the past week. And my diesel Ram is the only one I saw while I was out there!

Of course, all the diesels in the farm equipment are in-line 6's! And no, they wouldn't let me bomb the tractors. Or the combine. #ad

Geez. I go away for a few days, and everybody starts blaming all their truck failures on me.

Hyper, no idea on the oil cooler, and on the short block , I was told that the engine I am recieving is complete /w/ turbo and pump, also dealer appologized and made the comment that this is only the second one they have replaced since Dodge started selling them.
and as for you Murphy, someone had to get the blame. #ad

Fest3er, You shouldn't have let that out #ad
