Smoke color, Is this normal?

Fuel line sleeve

So installing the mushimoto cooler today . I can’t get the barbed fittings to push into the old hose. Anyone have and tricks up their sleeves? I means there’s transmission fluid lining the inner wall so it’s greased - I just can’t get enough leverage to push through the old hose. The new cooler side hose slides on easy

Update : Answer is use a heat gun to soften the tube up.

I have put about two years (two summers of towing) on the Mishi trans cooler and have had zero issues at all. I also took the opportunity to remove the check ball from the return line as well.

I will be installing the Mishi cooler this week and just haven decided if I need to upgrade the lines. They are leaking at the quick connect but that may be resolved with the barb fitting? I guess i will see when it is torn down.
Did you bypass the thermostat or keep it active? I have bypassed mine in my stock unit years ago due to failure and have had no issues but if it works then it might be worth keeping it in.

I kept the thermostat - havent hit summer yet in Dallas so we'll see how well this cooler works. It will perform better just from the sheer size of it. I did haul about a 4K load + 4K trailer in 20 degree weather - transmission never went above 160F. Driving around town last weekend without a trailor ambient temp was 65 transmission hit 164F. ill be hauling a 20K load in august when i need to get more hay - that will be the test. I'll report back.

I kept the thermostat. Opens at 140, I believe.
