Ok, the wife watches the bank account like a hawk. What is out there that every truck really needs on a limited budget. $500? $1000?

My truck is stock other than gauges.

BHAF: $50

EXHAUST: $300

VULCAN BIG LINE PUMP RELOCATION: $120

PRE-LOVED EDGE EZ: +,- $250

NOT TRASHING YOUR CLUTCH/TRANS: PRICELESS :-laf

If you are blessed with the gift of self control then go right to a bigger box and save a step. I took the "scenic" route to get where I'm at and now I have a few dollars collecting dust in the garage.

old saying

Just to follow up on what Master said... ... ... ... My grandfather used to tell me that a "poor man can't afford to buy junk"... ... ... ... ... ... . :D :D

SMARTY!! ;) :-laf

Smarty is pretty darn good.....

Condsider finding another wife who owns her own truck and is into bombing. If she also owned a nice fishing boat that would only be a plus.

What year is your truck and is it auto or stick"

Hmmm... $500 - $1000...

On that type of budget you will be limited on the amount of enhancements available. If you come up with a long term plan on where you want to go, keeping in mind how you use your truck, you will save yourself money by not upgrading the same items in the future.

Since you have gauges I will assume that you are looking into HP performance items.

If you have a 24v, no matter what year or transmission you have, you could get away with the following for under $1K:

AFE (Stg 1) or BHAF Air Intake/Filtration system

Edge Box or Smarty for Fueling/Timing*

* There are many fueling/timing performance boxes and injectors out there to increase your horsepower. I only choose these two because I am familiar with them and can vouch for the performance advertised, the quality, and the support that comes with these products through personal experience.

Now, if those purse strings open up a little more or you do as NoSeeUm said and get a new wife, (which, may be a little hard to do) let us know and we can then tell you how to spend a lot more than $1K ;)

the smartest move would be to enhance your fuel delivery to the injector pump. A lot of people do not like the fass however mine is 2years old and I have 19 lbs at the injection pump. Then maybe some injectors

I think the Edge Juice/Attitude is a GREAT setup because it'll go from mild to wild enough to need transmission/clutch help! and it also gives you boost/EGT/fuel pressure/transmission temp gauges all in one package...

now, I love mechanical analog gauges... and I realize that if you really want to "go crazy" w/ the truck, it might not be the optimal setup, but if you're on a tight budget, it's a great way to go... just the GAUGES and pillar mount are going to cost you $400 or so... and you're going to want those gauges if you add a box/programmer/etc.

the Edge setup will run you around $700 and you've got a great setup that you won't quickly outgrow untill you address the transmission/clutch which is pretty pricey.

I'm a 12v guy, but my buddy's got an 01, and I was very impressed with his setup, and he really likes it... he's already shopping for a clutch :D

I have to agree with Jed, fix the things that may cost you more money down the road. Personally I love my FASS, but there are many options out there. GDP makes a product, even just a different pusher pump. Thats just where I would start. As far as power enhancement goes, I will agree with these guys, save your trans/clutch and don't go with too aggressive of a fueling box unless you have a lot of self control.

1-improve fuel tranfer pump a must do

2-air intake a must do

3-4inch exhaust a must do

4-depends on where you want to go in the future an edge EZ for mild,an edge comp for wilder. and or as stated before a Smarty to use alone or with the comp or EZ.

5-clutch if manual or auto transmission upgrades this is $$$ out of you budget at this point.
