I have solved my problem but do not know how to remove this post.

Help! I must remove the bottom half of the air breather box to fasten my exhaust down pipe to the manifold. I see three fasteners of some kind but do not have any idea how to remove them. The book says to remove the three bolts. I have turned, pried pushed and no results. I am stuck here in the bush without transportation until I can get this rig together. I have already managed to crack the box due to the cold (+15). The fasteners are star shaped and seem to be made out of nylon or ?<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Those Three bolts go through a rubber grommet. You either pry up the Box off the bolts and the grommets will stay on the box or unbolt all three bolts and lift out with the box. You need to pry the air duct out of the fender or separate it from the air box.

Thank you... . as luck would have it the box broke when I tried to remove it. I guess I will try to duct tape it together until I can replace it. Thanks again for your help.

Use epoxy in lieu or addition to the duct tape, or go buy a NAPA 2790 (BHAF) and leave the air box out. The NAPA filter will attach directly to your hose to the turbo.

Either way I would not run for a second with a cracked or broken bottom half of a stock air box.

Thanks Sticks,

Was considering a K&N but the BHAF sounds like a better deal though I can see where one should carry a spare since it is not cleanable.

Yeah, not a big supporter of the oil type air filters in turbo charged applications.

OEM airbox (even if you have not broken it) do have a tendency to allow unfiltered air to slip past the lid, especially if the replacement filter is not to spec or the lid gets tweaked.
