musty smell in hvac

I don't know how many others have gotten this smell but I saw a TSB on it on an other web site(http://www.ecpe. vt. edu/~dfritz/technical/TSB97/24_11_97. HTM). One of the sugested cures was to extend the drain for the condenser. Where is the drain for the condenser.
Also I have had a problem where after running the AC for a while water starts to drip out from under the dash. It sounds that if I extend the drain may be this would kill two birds with one stone.

wow, guess i'm glad we were all outside at dyno day when nowel (HVAC) drove the 600HP rocket down from SF!

Might have had to have grand-poohbah joe d. deduct some HP for the musty odor! LOL! rm

hvac in lower case stands for "heating, ventilation, air conditioning" however in upper case it's a whole nother story. bg

Back to the subject at hand, my old 94 had a musty smell in the ac also. I sprayed lysol into the vents and the air intake. Works for a while but it would come back. Another suggestion would be to run your blower on high with no A/C or even the heater for a minute or so before you shut it down.

As far as the water problem goes, I got a 5/8 heater hose with a 90º curve molded into it and clamped it onto the water drain. Floor stayed dry after that.

BTW, I've also heard that HVAC gets a musty smell to him when he on the dyno.

correctly valved 5 speed. White, Brown Manf. brushguard and rear bumper,Sprayed in liner, Stock plate and AFC properly adjusted. Straight pipe. That's all for now. More to come.

Where is the water drain that the AC uses?

I had to get at it from the bottom of the truck. It's on the passenger's side All you can see is what looks like a little pipe sticking out of the cab about 1 inch long.

I have looked everywhere... on my 97 with an auto for the ac drip tube, I can't find it! Where exactly on the passanger side is it? Is it on the firewall above the bell housing or on the floorboards under the seat?

Just went out and looked on mine so it's fresh in my mind.

Passenger side on the fire wall, You can't see it from the top because of the black cylinder blocking your view. That cylinder is also part of the A/C system(dryer I believe but not sure).
Feel on the firewall directly below that cylinder and you should feel the drain pipe for the A/C.
At least that's correct on a 97 5 speed.
