So I've had an occasional dead pedal, thrown a couple codes and suspect immenent VP44 Failure. FASS is fine according to guages, both permanent and a quick check at the pump to confirm my dash mount is reading correctly.

The big question, is the Blue Chip Special X worth an extra $1,000?

Has anyone had both?

That is a lot of extra money to spend for ??????

I wouldnt do it. I think BC is just a worked up name go with a II a equally good name and much better price. If you want the high timing get a smarty and run the odd SWs or run the one for mileage, 1 is it? lots of good reviews on MWFI as well, I think all Bosch places use all new stuff and the same process theres a post by a guy who toured a reman facility somewhere out west and said as much, also said that the Fedex deal is a myth it was UPS that actually had a start stop counter put into the software. This way they could track the starts/stops on each VP and anticipate failures in order to replace before the trucks died and had to be towed and the packages switched at greater expense...

I would stay away from thoroughbred and lowball places like that. Expect to pay at least $1100 with shipping.

Blue Chip all the way!!! :D:D

I purchased a MWFI pump and it was, unknown to me, not right from the first day of install. This was because I never had a 24v ISB and it was in my conversion truck, so I thought I may have made a mistake with my wiring. Turns out, it was the computer on the top of the pump that wasn't replaced on rebuild.

Buy from a small business man, re-building them and overseeing the operations personally and NOT from a large company. Chip is extreamly professional and stands behind his work 100%.

So, I've had both. Maybe, now knowing what I know, I'd have caught the problem with the MWFI pump w/in my year warranty and they would have probably honored it - I don't know though.

Bottom line: you get what you pay for.

LCD put the MWFI pump in my Dad's 02'. Only about 1k miles but is running better than new. Don't panic and rush to the VP-44, what codes are you getting? I thought the 99' was about to eat another VP, had the same symptoms but turned out to be a APPS.

I have the codes written down at home, I didn't get the so called Death Code.
I'm not rushing, went on a nice little trip yesterday afternoon and it ran great, no studders or dead pedal.
I was having some battery problems too, put new batteries in yesterday morning, removed and cleaned all the grounds where they meet the block/body and the hot wire at the fuse block.
I also read on here in one of the threads about a dead pedal that the guy supposedly fixed by upgrading his comp. I have a comp on my rig and the day before the dead pedal was fooling around with it a lot, changing and trying settings while driving. Since clearing the codes and not playing around with the comp, leaving it on the same settings, no problems.
We'll see what happens. I want to have a game plan when it goes though, have 160k on the truck, dodge replaced it at 85k. I don't want to be on TDR after towing the truck back to the house trying to figure out what I should buy, should I spend around a grand, 1700 or almost 2k? 1k is a lot if it really doesn't matter, too much to spend just to support a small business, even if I like doing that most of the time.
