Just got notice today, there is a chance the role over valve in the fuel tank might let water into the fuel tank. they want to replace the hose. It also says they will clean the water out of the tank and replace the fuel filter if needed. Now I got to take a day off to get an hours worth of work done.

I sware I been reading about this problem for some time now, and they fixed it on the 05's?

I had the recall done last week. They add a section hose to each of rollover valves that extends down the side of the tank.

AND THAT IS ALL THEY DO. 2 SIX INCH PIECES OF HOSE AND OUT THE DOOR YOU GO. YOU CAN DO IT YOURSELF TAKES 2 SECONDS. THEN ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TAKE 5 MINUTES ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK TO SHOW THEM THAT IT HAS BEEN DONE.

I've already fixed mine, but it makes you wonder why is this recall only for the '06 models. What about the thousands of '03-'04 trucks that never had hoses installed on these valves? Are we just SOL?

Can you take pictures showing where is this hose exactly located at. I'm picking up my new 2006 Mega Cab this Friday. I want to check if the recall has been done...

Here is a link to a picture in my Reader's Rigs gallery.....

There are two breather valves on the top of the tank. The fix is to either put hoses on both of them, or to plug one and put a hose on the other. If both valves are plugged the tank will have a vacuum which you would notice every time you take off the fuel cap.

In the picture you'll see that I connected both valves with 1/4" hoses and a tee, and then ran one main 1/4" hose for a Fram fuel filter which I located near the main fuel filler hose. This helps to keep dust out of the tank. The factory fix will probably be just a short piece of 1/4" hose with nothing on the end. Keep in mind that the front valve sits in a depression on long bed trucks, and is on a raised mound on short beds. The depression on long bed trucks makes for an especially bad situation since it collects dirt and water, which ultimately gets sucked into the tank.

You know, I read about this issue before I put in my vent kit and when I did that I thought I should do this but on mine they didn't seem to be open. The inside of the tank was clean and I couldn't get anything to go through either one of them. I might revisit this.
