Im a VE virgin I know... .
After searching for a first gen I finally brought one home. I've owned it for a little while now but my back issue and the previous owner being out of town took me a while to pick it up.

1990 W250 LE 5. 9 CTD 160K Im the 3rd owner, Truck was bought at our local dealership and still has the window sticker. It has Pyro, Fuel pressure, Boost and trans temp gauges in it. New injection pump within the last year from Daves Diesel in Angola, IN with it turned up a little (not sure exactly) larger injector tips (not sure) and a larger turbo (not sure exactly). It was a farm truck but still taken care of and kept inside. It is in need of a transmission (auto) thats the reason the guy decided to sell. Not bad I think for $1400

Im going to restore it to its off the showroom floor condition with a few mods along the way. Nothing major just to make it a fun classic to have and cruise around in. It will end up a complete W350, no color picked out yet but Im thinking either Metallic electric blue or the Metallic graphite gray.

PICS in next post**

I rolled it out today and did some cleaning, Im sure its not been cleaned in over 5 years! trash and dust/dirt galore! I was surprized the original seat wasnt ripped in any way! although there is a ink stain that Im not sure will come out or not.

I haven't really ever worked on a non-i/c so this may be a dumb question, but whats that tube coming off the front of the VE? Some kind of older style fuel return line?

Also, that looks like a W350 to me...

Anyway, nice truck for a restoration project. I'm not sure how long you're gonna be working on it for, but by summer I plan to have my auto out of my truck swapped for a getrag (I know, I know, I've been saying that for a while). It's got about 10k, it just needs some adjusting. It's the 518 o/d transmission. If you still need one by then, at this point for another TDR member I'd probably just hand it over if you wanna come get it.

Good luck on the project... . send us lots of pics.

Thanks!

Its a W250, the previous owner swapped the rear axle for towing his trailer (oliver pulling tractor & farm equipment) I need to find some front hubs to convert to a full W350.

Im not sure on the fuel line, Ill chase it down and let ya know.

When you do the trans swap let me know Id be interested!

Hopefully within a year or two Id like to have to completed, I just need to clean the barn and make room so I can take the cab/clip off and start from the frame up.

If you're going to put the dually bed on there, make sure it's got a pickup dually rear axle. Track width should be in the neighborhood of 92"

Thanks Daniel!

Im still hunting for DRW parts to swap it over so hopefully this wont be a huge ordeal to do so

in the glove box (scanner is too short to scan the whole thing):

Good job so far. I'd love to have a Reg Cab 4x4 Dually. Most especially a 1990. They really look cool and sporty.

I love my 1990. It is so simple and reliable. All around cool. Talk about a no nonsence truck. The 1990 engine really IS a simple bull-dozer unit. I mean its all right there in the open. You can fix everything yourself and so easily modified too.

That will be a really nce truck when it's finished. Are you keeping the orginal transmission in it, or swapping to something else?

Thanks! Im quite surprized as to how easy its been going so far, only a couple broken bolts but Im a long way from the finish line

Nice

Seeing these pics kinda makes me wish that I would of pulled my cab off and gone for a full resto. I guess that time and space are my two limiting factors. Oh, did I forget to mention $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$:-laf

I know the feeling, I dont think this will be finished as soon as I had hoped. there is talk of 10 employees from my wifes school district being let go:eek:

Sooo that has put a hault on my play money and probably this project for now #@$%!
