Buying new 3500 cab/chassis

Just wondering if anyone knows where a guy can purchase a kit to mount a 3500 dually bed onto the C/C? I already have a brand new matching color bed so now I just need a way to bolt it on. I have decided to just live with the 4" gap between the cab and the bed that will exist. Seeing that the frame and the bed base are both flat it shouldn't be too hard to mount that thing on there (I hope).

Also, does anyone know if Magna or any aftermarket co. will have an optional limited slip available for that new front axle? It really helps having all the tires pulling when I am on less that solid ground pulling my equipment. See pics below.

My other plans are to pull all the goodies that will tranfer over from my 2007 5. 9L and install them in the new 5500.

Be sure to marry the trailer/skid steer to that 6. 7! That way you wont have to worry about soot plugging up the turbo, or the engine for that matter.

The frame on your 3500 is not straight and the bottom of the bed is designed to mount to that frame... I don't think you'll find anything to allow you to move the bed to the 5500 with the straight frame rails...

I own both, 3500's and a 5500... we've turned several of our 3500 dually's into flat beds... I don't think I'd take on your project... .

I can't help you with your question but could use your track loader to grade my back yard. Everything drains back to the house.

Dully box on to 5500

That is the same thing as I am going to do except that it will be an 09 5500 4x4 crew cab Topkick! With a Ford dulley pickup box. Cryslur and cumzin have been taking my money since my 99 was new! nufsaidthere! I figured that the bottom of the Ford box wasn't flat so have some ideas on how to fit the subframe together ( heavy dense rubber ) and maybe some cutting of the one little bracket that they have at the back of the box? Where their is a will there is a way and I will have my way! I think that mounting side fuel tanks are going to be harder? I am going to enjoy THIS truck and the changes that I am going to do!:DOo.

There is a company making aftermarket beds for the Chassis Cabs. Do a search here or look at the 4500s on truckpaper.com

Thanks for the info! Since I already have a brand new color matching dually bed thats the route I plan to go. The bottom of the bed is flat so I know it will sit right down on the new 5500 I just need a way to bolt it on and also figure out if B&W makes a gooseneck hitch that will mount below the bed like it does on my 3500. I'm going to call the guys at Inovative Customs in Utah and see if they can make me the mounts I'll need to do it right. Somthing like this should be a piece of cake for them.

In the mean time here is a pic of my 2007 earning it's keep! This truck has NO PROBLEM PULLING 20K lbs. but it sure don't like slowing it down in hurry!!

There is a dealership here in utah that is mounting dually beds to 4500 & 5500's and is just shortening the frame to make them fit. It looks like a regular one ton too. it's the kinda truck you have to double take on.

I've always thought it would be cool to have that 4-5" between the cab and box so that you could mount stacks without losing bed space, more like a real tractor.

4500's/5500's

I drove one like that for a test drive ( won't say who's make, remake it was )all the stacks did was rattle like mad. They were none functional. I agree with you that the vertical stacks look good though. :)

I would just put a big custom fuel tank to take up the space. paint it to match. It would be choice!

you can put a dualy bed on flat rails. you just have to modify the front bed mount brackets.

they mount FLAT beds on regular dualies all the time... make the factory bed flat!

Hey Hardcore,

I like your truck! I have a 2005 3500 single wheel that is lifted 5" and has 37" tires and I would like to use a gooseneck trailer. All the goosenecks I've seen are too low where they cross over the bed of the truck to work on my lifted truck. If I go offroad on a construction site and go over a steep downgrade I am afraid the trailer steel will crush my truck bed or tailgate. Your trailer looks higher than most I've seen around here where it crosses over. What brand is the trailer and how much is your truck lifted. I would be curious how far it is from the ground to the bottom of the horizontal member that crosses over the bed of your truck. Thanks for your time!

My 3500 has a Fabtech 4. 5" lift. The trailer is an EZ-Haul built by T&B Welding in Mo. Not sure on exact measurements but you would have PLENTY of clearance while off road. That's the reason I purchased that trailer!!
