Lined my 99 up with a friend of mines 01 tonight. Both trucks are ETC 5 spds. His truck is a reg cab 2wd mine is a Quad Cab 2wd. My truck has an EZ K&N 0880 and straight pipe. His truck has a straight pipe and a homemade propane system thats all. Mine has 36K on it his has 55K.

We raced at least 10 or 15 times all from rolling starts. With his propane on he blew me off the damn road lol. So we kept going with his propane off. No matter what we do I can get the jump then he comes around me no problem!! I was kinda disturbed. . my truck went a 16. 20@84 with the EZ on and I know a stock 4. 10 truck won't do that. But that was a long time ago my truck ran that. I guess I better get Briar Hopper my money so I can get a lift pump test gauge!!

I don't think the wieght difference should be that much really... especialy since we did it from a rolling start... we went anywhere from 15 to 50mph starts. I lost everytime.

So do I have something wrong or is that really how much 4. 10s are worth over 3. 55s

I feel that 4. 10 in a drag race should give a rather large advantage over 3. 55 in a "drag race". Most of the guys that I know who drag race always swap out for 4. 10's.

Swap trucks......

Driving styles can make a difference. You drive his and vice versa and see where they stack up. Without his propane I can't see losing from a rolling start. Straight off ther line the 4:10's would be huge but not once rolling.

Might have to try that, but we are both pretty brutal on them lol. Keeping the smoke pedal down while rowing through the gears :D

gears

In another lifetime I did some drag racing with a 66 Pontiac GTO. It was a pretty nice setup but had 3. 70 gears. I had no problems with other cars that had similar gearing but couldn't do squat against anyone with 4. 11s.

A friend told me lower gears would make all the difference in the world. He was a top eliminator most of the weeks that he ran so I guess he knew. I never bothered tho because I just did it for fun, and I dorve that car every day .

If the 4. 11's take you off the line, you probably won't make up enough ground to pass him, unless your HP level was much higher.

Sounds like it's time to make a change, can't keep getting smoked.

Tell the other guy to through 1000#'s in the bed of his truck, thats about the differance without the quad cab. Back in the gasser days I used to get whipped by a guy with the identical truck, except I had an extended cab,big differance.

I didn't think the quad cab was that much heavier! Thats quite a bit. I did a poboy lift pump test and it had volume at least, I drained the filter and bumped the starter with it open and she moves some diesel thats for sure. Air Cleaner is nice and clean, unplugged and replugged all my connections on the EZ and tightened my IC hoses again. Also unhooked the batteries for a while to see if that would do anything... some say it does some say it doesn't. Nothing like a good *** whooping to get you to do some light maintenence :D.

Fred, another TDR member is supposed to sell me some DD3s if he likes his new larger injectors. But after this I might jump in and buy some new ones lol. . I will keep you in mind

I have raced another truck similar to mine in HP but he was about 1000lbs lighter with 3. 55's.

I beat him buy 1-2 tenths on every race easy. Both are 5 speeds.

I have 4:10's
