Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) my automatic seems to automated

it just doesnt seem like it shifts at all, kinda of like how a snowmachine clutch works, unless i manually shift it, even with manual shifting sometimes it will not really shift into the next gear but rather ease in or slip in. Is the transmission about worn out, it has good clean fluid and was just serviced 8 k miles ago when i bought it. they adjusted the 2nd gear band and said it has some wear.

The stock torque converter is too loose, and or it is failing.

Drive one with a tighter fluid coupling, and you will understand.

Stock autos were made to 'slide' into gear rather than give the driver a thump. This was only for 'cosmetic' purposes. The slide doesnt mean the transmission is bad, though.

When I had my transmission rebuilt, I specifically told the guy, I want to feel every shift, up or down, as long as it wont harm the driveline. .

Fox has a good starting point, though I feel the valve body is more at fault here. A quick and easy fix would be a replacement, upgraded VB.
