I finally got my current project on the road this past week and am I ever happy to be driving a 1st generation again! It's been about 4 years since I retired my old truck.
Not to long ago this truck was sitting up on blocks in N. Montana in a general state of neglect and disrepair including a burnt up transmission.
Now it has a new transmission, new Michelins alla round put stock rims trim rings and hubcaps back on, Bilstein shocks, Borgenson steering shaft, windshield, recent injection pump, master cylinder, tie rod ends, pitman arm, thermostat, serpentine tensioner, change to old style grill and stock bumper and numerous other small things.
Next things to fix are the fuel gauge , radio, passenger power window, install under the bed transmission cooler and temp gauge, take D. seat in have re-upholstered , install vinyl floor, sandblast paint and install Reunel bumpers F&R from previous truck, remove improve/customize and paint flatbed, paint cab install running boards and I could keep going.
Nice to have a rust free truck to work on again. Engine is still stock unmolested and I haven't even got to thinking about bombing it a little yet. Suppose I should be thinking about installing gauges now :-laf
