Can't find a "Flare Saver" or Conical crush washer

Home Run Derby?

My dad is thinking about buying one of those pile of craps that you can walk out to your nearest highway throw a rock out there and youd hit one... A hummer h2. Now i told him my buddy who works at a chevy dealers said they are underpowered gas hogs that will never get better than 9-10 mpg... Seems like this isnt enough to get my dad to rule it out. I told him if anything get a chevy 2500 hd duramax fully loaded 4x4. They are nice inside and ride like a luxury vehicle. . Also it will have a duramax which get good mileage and is powerful... . He said no because whatever he buys is going to by my sisters first car. . she is 13 right now... What can i do... I dont want to be another family on the block with one of these useless POS

Maybe this will help

-Ask him what he thinks the price of gas will be in 5 years

-Mention that Jeep may be selling a new Hummer type vehicle soon (w/Diesel)

-18 y/o girls probably prefer Corvettes as their 1st veh

-The seating position of Hummers has caused circulation problems in the hip

region for older men (no not true, but who wants to use Viagra)

-Surveys show that most teenage pregnancies begin in SUVs

(again not true, but may get him thinking)

-Does he really want his daughter driving a veh called a "Hummer"

Good luck

There's nothing 'special' about a H2 except the price. It is built on a Tahoe platform, so it would be much cheaper to just buy the Tahoe.

I say let him get it, based on what you have mentioned in the past your family drives, Maybach 57, Mercedes C600, money is not a problem so gas probably does not matter. H2s are pretty cool, if he doesn't like it he can always sell it.

Dang dude you beet me to it :D ,

If I were to buy one,it would be the old one. I've driven around in them in the service, mostly had a driver and sat shotgun, but still loved them. I cant stand the new ones, their not Hummers anymore, just a yuppy a$$ version of them.

I would not go as far as to say the price is special... A new Land Cruiser costs more than a POS BUMMER. They're the biggest piece of JUNK out there. I look at these people and laugh.

Why not show him that video of the tie rods snapping like toothpicks?:-laf Or that newspaper article that shows what happens to one if a Ram 3500 meets it head on?

Sorry, but I'm too lazy to go looking for either one right now. :(

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with the H2. Yeah, if you are going to do the offroad extremes, the H1 would be the better choice, but my guess is that he is just going to drive it to the office. Would you rather him get a mini van? You sure have a tough life, Nick.

In our area they are very popular for the 'self-employed' falling into a special tax write-off (I believe total depreciation in 2-years). To be eligible for this write-off, they need to exceed a certain GVW and cost under $75,000.

Have him buy a used one and save over 10 grand. A guy I work with has one, and he cant get rid of it. If you pay anything over 40 grand for one, you are getting hosed. The used market is swimming with used hummers that people cant afford to buy gas for. He spends about 500 bucks a month on gas.

He told me that a brand new hummer with 0 miles would still loose about 12 grand as soon as it is driven off the lot.

For the price of an H2, why not buy an H1 and get a real Hummer.
