Major computer crash

Sad news.

When Curtiss, my Lab/Shepherd cross died unexpectedly last year, the vet sent a card that contained the following:

"we who choose to surround ourselves

with lives even more temporary than our own

live within a fragile circle

easily and often breached

unable to accept its awful gaps

we would still live no other way

we cherish memory as the only certain immortality

never fully understanding the necessary pain"

It's from 'The Once Again Prince' by Irving Townsend.

May all of us take comfort in fond memories of our departed four-legged friends.

Chris,

I have been trying to think of what to say for days now, since you first posted this. Its a tough time, I went through the loss of a couple of dogs, but never had to put one down, mine died in their sleep, saving me from that choice. I now have a springer that is 10yo and had her share of problems, including cancer, that she beat this year. I hate to go to the vets, because they have a poster like the one Un-hemi posted above, but different. That brings tears to my eyes every time I read it, and I do every time, knowing it will. In time you will get another dog, but those of us who have, know it isn't to replace the one that's gone, but the new pup will ease the pain of your loss and wiggle it's way into its own space in your heart. This hits me pretty hard knowing my time with this ordeal is coming, probably sooner than later. Hang in there buddy, and know you can find a sympathetic ear (eyes) here whenever you need it.
