Well I've been debating for a while now about posting my experience on this, as there alot of mixed opinions on dse and wvo, but here goes! Last winter i was collecting wvo to make bio. but after alot of research i was getting discouraged. Making bio is a complex process and then what do i do with the by-product? I then seen DSE and ordered it. Let me add another IMPORTANT part of this story! I was also having dead petal issues, clouds of blue and white smoke at start-up, irratic idle (hunting). I had ordered a new VP and had it ready to put on if it died. So i thought this would be a perfect time to try this because i did'nt care what happened to the old pump. I was currently running a holley blue lift pump. I mixed up a 30 gal batch and filled er up from E. Started the truck up and within 20 sec. the engine got noticably quieter and i smelled it in the air! I then went for a test drive, it ran great but the fuel press. was not good 2psi WOTand the old holley was making alot of noise. Then i went home and pumped half of it out and added kerosene, then the pressure came back up. I then bought an aeromotive A1000 from summit and bench tested it with cold straight VO. This thing will suck or push a "golf ball through a garden hose". Then i installed it on the truck set my press. @ 15psi. (return style reg. ) and pumped the rest of the mix back in. The press. held 10psi WOT. I ran that batch of fuel out and every batch after that i did NOT use the secret additive. i didn't notice any change. BUT then it dawned on me, From the first drop of VO ALL the dead petal, and other problems went COMPLETLY away! I then started experimenting, i just mix 70% wvo with 30% #2, No additives. Filter it to 5 micron! Worked fine all summer long! On the down side,
collecting wvo can be a real PAIN IN THE ***! finding a place that uses PURE veg oil is hard enough, but finding stuff thats not burnt to death is hard! Pumping it from there barrel to yours can sometimes be an episode! Now i just get it from one place that gives it to me in the 5 gal containers, but not very much.
Now i just add about 3-4 gal to a tankful for pump lubrication.
